Group Head of Financial Planning & Analysis
The African Management Initiative (AMI)
Strategy & Planning
Partner with the CFO and senior leadership team to drive long-term financial strategy and performance
Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts, including income, expenditure, cash flow, and capital planning
Develop and maintain dynamic financial models to support scenario analysis, resource allocation, and investment decisions
Reporting & Insights
Design and improve systems for monthly management reporting, business unit analysis, and variance tracking
Provide timely, data-driven insights on performance trends and recommend corrective actions where needed
Monitor and evaluate key financial KPIs and develop dashboards that enable real-time visibility and accountability
Business Partnering
Collaborate with heads of departments and regional leads to build capacity in financial understanding and ownership
Support strategic projects including pricing, market expansion, donor-funded program analysis, and cost optimization
Governance & Tools
Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and digital tools that enable scalability and compliance
Ensure financial practices align with internal controls, external regulations, and AMI's operational needs
Team Leadership
- Manage and mentor a small FP&A team, fostering a culture of curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide professional development opportunities and build a succession-ready team
Requirements
A Masters degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; professional certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA, CFA) preferred
Minimum 8+ years’ experience in financial planning & analysis, corporate finance, or strategic finance roles
At least 5 years in a leadership or senior managerial role, preferably in a fast-growth, multi-country context
Demonstrated experience in financial modeling, data analysis, and performance measurement
Advanced Excel and financial systems experience (e.g., ERP, BI tools, Power BI, Tableau). Oracle Netsuite is an advantage
Strong commercial mindset with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
Excellent communication and influencing skills; ability to work cross-functionally with diverse teams
Self-driven, hands-on, and adaptable; thrives in ambiguous environments
