Textile waste is a growing global challenge. Syre’s mission is to decarbonize and dewaste textiles, starting with the world's biggest fiber, polyester. By implementing true textile-to-textile recycling at hyperscale, we want to drive the transition from a linear to a circular value chain by putting textile waste to use, over and over again.

The Public Affairs and Permits Manager will be responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance, securing necessary permits, and managing relationships with government agencies, industry associations, and other key stakeholders. This role is essential for ensuring smooth business operations for Syre, advocating for favorable policies, and maintaining the company’s reputation within Vietnam’s regulatory landscape. This role, which will be part of the Vietnam plant leadership team, offers an exciting opportunity for a professional with expertise in permitting, regulatory affairs, and public policy to play a key role in shaping the company’s business landscape in Vietnam.

Key tasks and responsibilities

Permitting & Regulatory Compliance:

• Lead the process of obtaining, renewing, and ensuring compliance with all necessary permits, licenses, and regulatory approvals in Vietnam, securing all necessary permits and timely success
• Liaise with relevant government authorities, including ministries, local governments, and regulatory bodies, to facilitate permit applications and approvals
• Stay updated on regulatory changes and assess their impact on business operations
• Develop strategies to ensure continuous compliance with evolving regulations

Public Affairs & Government Relations:

• Establish and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, policymakers, and industry associations to influence favorable regulatory and business environments in Vietnam
• Represent the company in public forums, regulatory hearings, and industry meetings
• Provide insights and recommendations on legislative and policy developments affecting the business
• Develop advocacy strategies to support the company’s business interests
• Develop and execute communication strategies to enhance the company’s reputation and foster positive relationships with key stakeholders
• Manage crisis communication and risk mitigation strategies in relation to regulatory issues

We would prefer if you have

• A Bachelor's degree in Law, Political Science, Public Administration, Business, or a related field
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in regulatory affairs, government relations, or public affairs in Vietnam, alternatively from a Ministry or similar
• Strong understanding of Vietnam’s regulatory framework, permitting processes, and government structures
• Proven experience in engaging with government agencies and industry associations
• A strong network of contacts within government institutions and industry bodies
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and develop strategic advocacy plans
• Purpose-driven mentality, with a clear mission and passion for driving environmental change
• Speaks Vietnamese and proficiency in English
  

You will be reporting to the Director of PA & Sustainability, and should be located in Vietnam.
