Textile waste is a growing global challenge. Syre’s mission is to decarbonize and dewaste textiles, starting with the world's biggest fiber, polyester. By implementing true textile-to-textile recycling at hyperscale, we want to drive the transition from a linear to a circular value chain by putting textile waste to use, over and over again.

Syre is now looking for a skilled and innovative Plant Manager with experience of polymerization to manage our scale-up facility, which we call our Blueprint plant. With an annual volume of 10,000 MT per annum, the Blueprint is intended to:

• Establish the blueprint for how we operate our future commercial scale plants around the world. You will work with our Ops- and Tech teams to establish the processes across all areas of the factory, and improve these over time

• Act as a large-scale testing facility for new feedstock suppliers around the world (after initial small-scale testing in our R&D facility).

• Produce commercial volumes of product sold to our customers

• Be a showcase of our technology for customers, suppliers and investors of a truly circular recycling process
  

Key tasks and responsibilities

You will be responsible for the overall safety and performance of the plant, ensuring that production processes run efficiently, safely, and in compliance with company standards. You will lead a team of managers and staff, playing a critical role in achieving operational excellence and contributing to the long-term growth of the company.

• Oversee day-to-day plant operations, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.
  
• Lead the hiring, training, and development of a high-performing site team.
  
• Develop and implement production schedules and performance standards.
  
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  
• Collaborate with company leadership on plant strategies and goals.
• Monitor KPIs and adjust strategies to achieve production targets.
• Manage budgets, control costs, and maintain strong financial oversight.
  
• Support and where appropriate lead the design and creation/implementation of Company operational processes for factory functions including Environmental and Safety, Inbound logistics and warehousing, Inbound Quality Assurance, Optimizing product quality and output, Outbound logistics and warehousing, Maintenance etc.
  
• Work closely with the R&D team to test new raw material variants and production processes to meet customer needs, improve production efficiency and scale-up/introduction of new products.
  

We would prefer if you have

• Experience leading a production site preferably in a manufacturing scale-up environment or for a newly established site.
  
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience of polymerization.
  
• Demonstrated success in bringing prototypes to scalable production, operating extensive testing processes and with a history of driving improvement over time.
  
• Experience in Safety, Quality, Environmental and ISO practices.
  
• Experience with successfully managing site P/L, maintenance programs.
  
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and iterate on designs.
  
• Collaborative approach and ready to chip in where needed to get things done.
• Are fluent in English both orally and in writing (professional English required).
  
  

You will be reporting to the COO (based in Asia) and will be working at the factory in North Carolina, USA (in the greater Raleigh area).
