Glass Lewis is hiring a Stewardship Analyst to join our Stewardship team in Toronto. In addition to conducting in-depth ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) research and analysis, this role will involve direct engagement with publicly listed companies on behalf of institutional investor clients. The successful candidate will help assess company practices across a range of ESG topics, support the development and execution of engagement strategies, and contribute to constructive dialogue with corporate issuers. The role requires regular interaction with publicly listed companies and the ability to represent Glass Lewis and its clients in professional, well-informed engagement discussions. We are seeking a candidate with strong communication skills, intellectual curiosity, and interest in ESG issues as well as evolving global trends and practices.

This is a full-time, hybrid position requiring regular office attendance (3x per week) at our downtown Toronto office.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Environmental Science, Public Policy / International Relations, Law, Corporate Governance, or a related field
  • Min. 3 years experience in ESG research and analysis with strong ability to analyze corporate disclosures, policies, and practices and articulate ESG risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement in a clear and balanced manner
  • Direct company engagement or comparable stakeholder‑facing experience (e.g., investor relations, sustainability consulting, policy dialogue, or advisory roles)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage constructively with company representatives and summarize discussions and outcomes for internal and client audiences
  • Sound professional judgment, diplomacy, and confidence when engaging with stakeholders on sensitive or contested ESG topics
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency in both research outputs and engagement documentation
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently while collaborating effectively within a global team
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis tools (e.g., Excel)

Nice to have:
  • CFA, ESG Investing Certificate, SASB FSA, or other relevant ESG or stewardship-related certifications
  • Knowledge of complementary field(s) such as finance, accountancy, internal audit, risk management, investment/business consultancy, or legal advisory services
  • Lead in-depth ESG research across various industries. Analyse company disclosures and practices to identify ESG risks, opportunities, strengths, and areas for improvement
  • Support the design and execution of engagement campaigns on behalf of institutional investor clients
  • Engage directly with companies, including preparing for and participating in meetings, drafting engagement questions, ensuring follow-up correspondence and maintaining relationships with engaged companies
  • Analyze ESG trends and regulatory developments and evaluate their implications for corporate strategy and investor stewardship priorities
  • Mentor and support Junior Analysts, ensuring high standards of data quality, analytical rigor, and timely delivery
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve research processes, tools, and engagement workflows and identify opportunities for standardization and automation
  • Support the development of Request for Proposals (RFPs) and due diligence questionnaires for institutional clients, including data gathering, drafting responses, and quality control
