Experienced Software Engineer

Passionate about Reinventing Forestry!

Are you a multilingual coder with a broad technical toolkit with a passion for tricky software challenges? Do you enjoy working close to the hardware, juggling multiple projects, and collaborating with diverse teams? If you also have a knack for seeing the bigger picture, we’d love to hear from you!

The role:
You will be working on the software for our harvesting tool, while also supporting the drone team’s software development. To thrive in this role, you should have a broad perspective and enjoy acting as a sounding board, helping to align efforts across the team while keeping things running smoothly as well as writing code that is both compiler-friendly and human-readable.

As an Experienced Software Engineer at AirForestry, you’ll play a key role in developing and implementing real-time software for our cutting-edge system. This isn’t just a coding job—you’ll be deeply involved in every stage of the software lifecycle, from design and development to testing, debugging, and deployment.

Working in a fast-moving startup, your day-to-day tasks will vary. One day you might be writing software, the next, testing it on hardware or deploying it in real-world environments. If you thrive in a dynamic setting and enjoy both high-level architecture and hands-on problem-solving, this is the role for you!

Need to have:

  • Broad experience from software development, including both high and low level programming.
  • Keen understanding of software architecture in a complex system.
  • A degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • You are a polyglot developer and have a solid understanding of real-time systems and Linux environments.
  • Experience working across multiple projects and teams.
  • Fluent in both Swedish and English - both written and spoken.

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with STM32 microcontrollers.
  • Familiarity with QML and Qt.

As a hands-on, problem solving and outdoorsy person - you’ll fit right in with the rest of us! You will be a part of a fast-paced and fun environment, working with cutting edge technology and become an important part of a tight-nit and humble team. Good words to describe us are quality oriented, problem solving, fact-based, kind and open - and we ask lots of questions. We are office first and Uppsala-based.

About AirForestry

We build cutting edge forestry technology that helps solve the climate and biodiversity crises. Our mission is to contribute to a substantial positive change by creating better forests for everyone.

Forestry is a long-term project. What is harvested today was tended by previous generations, and what is planted today will be harvested by our grandchildren.

AirForestry provides solutions for thinning forests with the help of
electric drones that can harvest trees from the air. AirForestry reduces
the need for access roads, eliminates the consumption of diesel, and
provides a better working environment for those who work in the forest.

We have paying customers and great partnerships. See our main website for more information.
