Africa Global Logistics (AGL) is the leading multimodal logistics operator in Africa, covering port, logistics, maritime, and rail activities. Now part of the MSC Group—a global leader in maritime and logistics—AGL combines more than a century of expertise with a strong presence in 49 countries and a team of over 23,000 employees. AGL delivers innovative, tailor-made logistics solutions to African and international customers, with the ambition of driving sustainable transformation across the continent. Beyond Africa, AGL also operates in Haiti, Timor-Leste, and Indonesia.

As part of the AGL Group, the AGL Kigali Expertise Center, established in 2025, includes ASCENS as its dedicated MIS/IT department. KSSC is entering a strategic growth phase, and to support this expansion and deliver high-value digital services across the AGL network, we are recruiting talented professionals to join our dynamic team. KSSC plays a key role in MIS activities through standardized service delivery, operational excellence, and strong cross-site collaboration.

ASCENS, the MIS/IT department, supports AGL’s 250 subsidiaries from hubs in Paris, Abidjan, Johannesburg, and Kigali, ensuring the effective use, management, and continuous evolution of the Group’s digital tools.

AGL manages a broad portfolio of digital solutions spanning Dynamics 365, Microsoft Power Platform, Azure services and enterprise integrations. Delivered by distributed teams, these solutions move through architecture, build, deployment, support and continuous improvement at different speeds and levels of maturity.

JOB FUNCTION & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Lead Solution Architect & Development Team Lead purpose is to ensure technical coherence across this portfolio, support reliable delivery and strengthen engineering maturity across teams.

The role combines three complementary dimensions: Expert—providing deep Dynamics 365, Power Platform and Azure expertise, including pro-code extensions and integrations; Architect—owning target architectures, security, integration patterns, application lifecycle management and technical risk decisions; and Team Lead—guiding developers, organizing technical delivery, reviewing work, arbitrating complex choices and resolving the most challenging issues hands-on.

Key functions:

Cross-stack solution architecture

Lead the design of enterprise solutions across Dynamics 365, Dataverse, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages and Azure.

Translate business and non-functional requirements into secure, maintainable and scalable architectures.

Define the appropriate balance between configuration, low code, custom development and Azure services.

Dynamics 365 expertise

Act as the technical reference for Dynamics 365 solutions, particularly Customer Engagement workloads such as Customer Service and Sales where relevant.

Challenge standard capabilities, extensions, data models, security roles, integration constraints and licensing assumptions.

Identify when dedicated functional expertise is required for a specific Dynamics module.

Power Platform engineering excellence

Define and enforce engineering standards for Dataverse, canvas and model-driven apps, cloud flows, custom connectors, Power Pages, PCF components, JavaScript and C# plugins.

Conduct architecture and code reviews, detect technical debt early and ensure remediation is planned before it becomes a delivery or support risk.

Azure architecture and integration

Design and review integrations using Azure Functions, Logic Apps, API Management, Key Vault, service identities and REST APIs.

Contribute to secure integration patterns, API-led architectures, encryption approaches and the separation of responsibilities between Azure and Power Platform administrators.

Development team leadership

Lead developers and technical contributors across distributed teams.

Translate architecture into actionable technical work, allocate or recommend assignments according to skills and priorities, unblock delivery, mentor team members and ensure consistent application of standards. Remain able to contribute directly to prototypes, complex development and troubleshooting.

ALM, DevOps and environment strategy

Own the application lifecycle approach across development, UAT and production.

Establish solution segmentation, managed deployment principles, source control, automated pipelines, release controls, dependency management and rollback readiness using Azure DevOps, Power Platform pipelines and PAC CLI as appropriate.

Technical governance and portfolio oversight

Provide technical oversight across the portfolio using a risk-based approach.

Prioritize involvement according to complexity, criticality, upcoming milestones and known architecture risks.

Make technical arbitration visible, documented and understandable to project managers and stakeholders.

Technical assurance, security and performance

Review solution security, data access, service accounts, DLP constraints, auditability, resilience, monitoring, performance and cost.

Define when a POC, benchmark or load test is required before approving an architecture.

Support incident analysis and durable remediation on cross-solution or platform-level issues.

Innovation, AI and technical acceleration

Evaluate Copilot Studio, Azure AI services, agent-based approaches and developer acceleration tools where they add business value.

Ensure that AI solutions include controlled data access, deterministic checks, human validation and appropriate monitoring.

Turn experiments into reusable patterns rather than isolated prototypes.

Knowledge sharing and capability building

Build a living technical knowledge base and run recurring architecture reviews, workshops, code clinics and technology watch sessions.

Develop the autonomy of developers and local technical leads through practical guidance, reusable assets and feedback tied to real projects.

The Lead Solution Architect & Development Team Lead is expected to work collaboratively with project managers, product owners, architects, security and infrastructure teams while retaining clear accountability for technical quality and architecture decisions. It should maintain a portfolio-wide view of priorities and risks, intervening directly on the most critical or complex topics, delegating effectively and engaging specialist support when needed. The role must balance strategic architecture with hands-on delivery, contributing to key builds, prototypes, technical reviews, incidents and recovery plans. It should also drive consistency across countries and business units by promoting reusable components, standard patterns, shared services and common reference models, while ensuring that major decisions and remediation actions are documented clearly and pragmatically.
