Overview of the role

We are seeking a Junior IT Systems Administrator to support the day-to-day operations and technology needs across our organization. This role is a critical part of our internal IT team, providing hands-on assistance with hardware, software, network, and system support. You will work closely with internal users to troubleshoot issues, implement technology solutions, and contribute to ongoing improvements in our IT environment.

The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong interest in learning emerging technologies and improving internal systems. This is a hybrid role based in our Austin office, offering the opportunity to grow your skills while supporting a dynamic, high-growth tech company.

As part of your responsibilities, you’ll support system administration, help desk operations, and technology deployments, while learning how to manage and integrate new tools into a secure and scalable IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, telephones, and software applications.
  • Provide support during systems upgrades, installations, conversions, and file maintenance.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and best practices, including providing written protocols to end-users.
  • Support servers, security solutions, network hardware and equipment.
  • Support cloud telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Investigate, analyze, and resolve complex hardware problems on company computer systems; perform advanced hardware repairs, maintenance, technical assistance, and support on a range of PC computers/Mac and peripherals.
  • Provide troubleshooting support for escalated software and hardware problems. Coordinate vendor assistance when required.
  • Install and maintain desktop/laptop computer hardware, including computers, monitors, printers,
  • Respond to after-hours system problem calls.
  • Provide technical assistance, support, and troubleshooting in the resolution of system communications failures.
  • Assist with security team in compliance with company security policies and procedures.
  • Assist with asset management across the organization
  • Manage and support the Onboarding and Offboarding workflows for the organization and coordinate with vendors as needed.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Information Systems, IT, Computer Science, or related field — or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in IT systems administration, directly related to the responsibilities of the role.
  • 3+ years supporting Microsoft 365 environments (SharePoint, Exchange Online, OneDrive, Teams).
  • 3+ years working with Active Directory, Windows OS/Server, macOS, networking, and VPN technology.
  • 3+ years providing end-user support for laptops, backups, endpoint protection, and general IT support.
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software issues.
  • Experience installing and configuring computer systems, hardware, and peripherals.
  • Familiarity with Azure and Intune/Endpoint Manager.
  • Experience with VMware/Hyper-V, Cisco Meraki/ASA, and managing firewall rules.
  • Hands-on experience with SAN/NAS systems and PowerShell/scripting.
  • Knowledge of Jira Service Management and ITIL frameworks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures.
  • Collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to work in a diverse team environment.
  • Self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Experience with Azure and Intune/Endpoint Manager
