RF & Communication Systems Engineer (UAV & Space)
TRL Space
Software Engineering
Brno, Czechia
What you’ll work on
This engineering role offers the opportunity to work on communication systems that operate both within Earth’s atmosphere and in space. We operate as a unified team spanning both industries, and we are looking for a highly collaborative, system-thinking engineer. For this role, we value raw talent, drive, and a deep understanding of physics and signals. Your position will be deeply hands-on. We need a proactive team player who will drive our communication architecture, select the best COTS solutions, and actively troubleshoot, measure, and optimize our systems in the real world.
Your mission will include
- You will build, optimize, and maintain robust communication architectures for both drone platforms and space applications.
- Calculate, design, and validate comprehensive link budgets to ensure reliable telemetry, command, and payload data links.
- Evaluate, select, and integrate the best Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) RF components and communication systems to meet specific mission requirements.
- Actively diagnose, debug, and resolve RF and communication issues in both the lab and the field.
- Measure system performance, analyze RF data, and implement data-driven improvements to maximize link stability and range.
- Act as the go-to systems thinker for communications, working closely and continuously with the broader hardware, software, and flight test teams.
- Travel to regional sites to support and participate in UAV testing and operational activities.
What you bring
- We are looking for exceptional potential and a deep grasp of RF fundamentals. Early-career engineers, recent graduates, or self-taught experts with demonstrated talent are highly encouraged to apply.
- Strong, applied understanding of link budgets, signal propagation, and communication architectures.
- Hands-on ability or strong eagerness to learn RF measurement equipment, data analysis, and hardware troubleshooting.
- A systems-level mindset with a strong preference for fast-paced, collaborative teamwork over isolated theoretical design.
- Flexibility and excitement to context-switch between the distinct technical requirements of atmospheric UAV operations and space systems.
- Working proficiency in English (essential for technical documentation and cross-team communication).
Why join us
We aim to be a global company delivering complete space and drone missions. As our RF & Communication Systems Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Work on communication systems that power both advanced UAV platforms and space missions, gaining experience across two of the most exciting engineering domains.
- See the direct impact of your work as your solutions are deployed on flying systems.
- Work with a high degree of autonomy and influence technical decisions from the earliest stages of development.
- Continuously expand your expertise across RF engineering, aerospace systems, embedded technologies, and mission operations.
