About the Role:
Location: Musanze District, Rwanda (with frequent travel to project sites)
Salary: RWF 650,000 gross per month
Reports To: Operations Manager
Contract Type: Full-time
Kigali Farms is seeking a motivated and highly organized Project Manager to lead its Oyster Mushroom Deployment initiative. The successful candidate will coordinate all phases of the deployment—from planning and team recruitment to farmer training, grow house setup, and ongoing field operations. This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication with rural communities, and the ability to manage field teams and donor relations effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of the seasonal deployment plan, including detailed budgets and timelines.
- Identify target communities and coordinate pre-deployment needs assessments.
- Ensure procurement and logistics align with project goals and timelines.
- Support in hiring and onboarding of key project staff such as field agents
- Define roles, responsibilities, and reporting structures for the project team.
- Supervise team performance and provide ongoing coaching and support.
- Oversee construction or installation of mushroom grow houses at community level.
- Coordinate with the Substrate Plant to ensure timely planning and delivery of substrate to farmers based on project needs.
- Coordinate community sensitization, farmer recruitment, and training sessions.
- Supervise day-to-day operations, monitor farmer progress, and troubleshoot field issues.
- Act as primary liaison with local authorities (sector, cell, and district levels) to ensure alignment and support.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with project donors; provide updates, organize field visits, and support donor visibility requirements.
- Collaborate with Kigali Farms leadership to ensure donor expectations are met and reported on time.
- Track project implementation against targets, including farmer engagement, grow house installation, and production milestones.
- Maintain accurate records of field activities, team attendance, expenses, and outcomes.
- Regularly report progress, challenges, and lessons learned to management.
- Contribute to post-season review and internal knowledge building.
- Ensure all team members adhere to Kigali Farms' values, safety protocols, and community engagement standards.
- Proactively identify and address risks, conflicts, or delays in implementation.

Ideal Candidate Profile
- Bachelor degree in Agriculture, Project Management, Rural Development, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years experience managing agricultural or community development projects.
- Proven experience working with smallholder farmers, rural stakeholders, and community leaders.
- Strong budgeting, planning, and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication in Kinyarwanda and English; French is an added advantage.
- Experience in working with or reporting to donors is highly desirable.
- Willingness to be based in Musanze and spend significant time in the field.
