Jasiri - This main program - invests in, nurtures, and empowers entrepreneurs who benefit society and attack poverty through the creation of high impact businesses, creating new markets on the African continent. Jasiri Talent Investor identifies and selects individuals with the potential to create high-growth ventures aimed towards market creating innovations. It introduces Jasiri Fellows to equally ambitious co-founders and guides them in the development of startups from scratch. Jasiri Growth Accelerator supports and invests in early-stage startups -- with potential for high growth and with demonstrated product-market fit – to grow and assists them with investor readiness. Wavumbuzi – a Jasiri pipeline building program – is a free annual six-week online entrepreneurship challenge focused on developing the entrepreneurial mindset of secondary / high school learners throughout the country.
About the Position
The Senior Creative & Brand Lead will work to ensure that Jasiri and Wavumbuzi brands remain recognisable, up, and exciting to internal and external stakeholders. S/he will promote – and change the public perception of – Jasiri and Wavumbuzi brands/programs. They will also make sure that branding is consistent throughout all communication touchpoints, programs, advertising, and campaigns.
Responsibilities
• Develop and execute brand innovation strategies with full understanding of target audiences and alignment with the organisation’s objectives, ensuring differentiation and a competitive edge in the various entrepreneurship ecosystems we are part of.
• Provide creative direction and quality control across all creative outputs, channels, communications platforms, media, and collaterals.
• Manage the creative process of third-party suppliers including graphic designer intern, videographers, photographers, event organizers.
• Guide the creative development process from planning to execution on assigned projects in line with organizational identity.
• As brand champion, manage and deliver a range of collateral materials (e.g., social ads, information booklets, flyers, branded merchandise, etc.).
• Train and guide East Africa Talent on our branding guidelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including programs, KRU, marketing and communication, product development/tech team to integrate brand innovation into various aspects of the organization.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, cultural shifts, and technological advancements to identify new opportunities for brand innovation.
• Develop visual themes and materials for events, conferences, workshops, and fundraising campaign
• Create prototypes, mock-ups, and pilot initiatives to test new concepts and gather feedback from stakeholders and target audiences with the support of the KRU team.
• Lead brainstorming sessions and collaborate with creative teams to generate innovative concepts, visual campaigns and experiences that resonate with target audiences.
• Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging trends, consumer preferences, and industry shifts that can be leveraged for brand innovation.
Job Requirements
Education:
• A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Marketing, Advertising, Design, or Communications. A master's degree may be preferred but not required.
Experience:
• At least 5 years of experience in branding, creative direction, or marketing, including a minimum of 2-4 years in a leadership role.
• Experience in both agency and in-house settings can be beneficial.
Skills and Competencies:
• Industry Knowledge: A deep understanding of the industry and market in which the company operates, including knowledge of partners and industry trends.
• Creative Skills: Proficiency in creative software and tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and an ability to create, edit, and guide the creation of visual content.
• Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and management skills, including experience in leading and mentoring creative teams.
• Project Management: Proficiency in project management, including the ability to manage multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
• Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills to develop and execute creative and branding strategies aligned with the organization's objectives.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and strategies effectively to internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Brand Management: A track record of successfully managing and evolving brands, including brand strategy development, brand positioning, and brand consistency.
• Market Research: Proficiency in conducting and utilizing market research to inform creative and branding decisions.
