About Submer
Submer is a fast-growing global company operating across multiple regions, entities, and business units. As we continue to scale internationally, we are strengthening our finance operations to support accurate reporting, cleaner reconciliations, intercompany alignment, and a more disciplined month-end close process across the group.
What impact you'll have
We are looking for a Senior Accountant – International Reconciliations & Intercompany Accounting with strong experience in international accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and multi-entity finance operations.
You will be responsible for ensuring accuracy across Submer’s global finance structure, supporting reconciliations across different countries, currencies, entities, and business units. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, structured, and comfortable working in a fast-growing company environment where processes are still evolving.
This is a key role for someone who enjoys bringing order, discipline, and accuracy to complex accounting processes. You will report to the Finance Manager / Group Controller.
What you'll do
Accounting & Month-End Close
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process across multiple international entities.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, provisions, and other accounting adjustments.
  • Ensure transactions are recorded accurately and in line with company policies, local requirements, and group reporting standards.
  • Review general ledger activity and ensure completeness and accuracy of financial data.
  • Support the preparation of management reporting packs and financial statements.
  • Work closely with regional finance teams to ensure deadlines are met and issues are resolved quickly.
International Reconciliations
  • Own and perform balance sheet reconciliations across multiple international entities.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, intercompany balances, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, tax, accruals, prepayments, and other key accounts.
  • Investigate, explain, and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
  • Ensure foreign currency transactions, exchange differences, and multi-currency balances are properly recorded and reconciled.
  • Maintain clear documentation and audit trails for all reconciliations.
  • Identify recurring reconciliation issues and recommend process improvements.
Intercompany & Multi-Entity Accounting
  • Manage intercompany accounting and reconciliations between Submer entities.
  • Support intercompany invoicing, cross-charges, recharges, loans, settlements, and eliminations.
  • Coordinate with finance stakeholders across regions to ensure intercompany balances are aligned.
  • Help standardize intercompany processes and improve visibility across the group.
  • Ensure intercompany transactions are recorded consistently and accurately across entities.
Controls, Audit & Compliance
  • Maintain strong supporting documentation for reconciliations, accounting entries, and close activities.
  • Support internal and external audit requests.
  • Assist with statutory reporting requirements and local compliance where required.
  • Identify control gaps and help strengthen accounting processes.
  • Ensure accounting activities are completed in line with internal controls and company policies.
Process Improvement
  • Help improve the quality, consistency, and timing of the month-end close process.
  • Support automation and standardization of reconciliation and accounting processes.
  • Work with Finance, HR, Procurement, Operations, and other teams to improve data accuracy and process flow.
  • Support the improvement of finance systems, reporting tools, and ERP processes.
  • Bring a proactive mindset to solving issues and improving how the finance team operates.
What you'll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in an international, multi-entity, or group finance environment.
  • Strong experience with balance sheet reconciliations, international reconciliations, and intercompany accounting.
  • Experience working with multiple currencies, cross-border transactions, and international subsidiaries.
  • Strong understanding of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Experience preparing journal entries, accruals, prepayments, provisions, and account reconciliations.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems; Microsoft Dynamics Business Central experience is a plus.
  • Good understanding of local statutory accounting and group reporting requirements.
  • Fluent English required; Spanish or other European languages are a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Key Competencies
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive and hands-on.
  • Comfortable working across countries, time zones, and cultures.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • High level of ownership and accountability.
  • Able to challenge inconsistencies and follow through until issues are resolved.
  • Process-minded with the ability to improve structure in a growing organization.
  • Flexible and comfortable working in an environment where priorities may change.
Experience that could help you succeed in this role:
Experience in a complex, growing organization, whether that's a scaling technology company, industrial or manufacturing business, infrastructure-focused organization, or a private equity- or venture-backed environment where finance needed to evolve alongside the business.
Any exposure to multi-entity or international finance is a plus; working with regional or subsidiary teams, supporting multi-jurisdiction audits, or navigating group consolidation. Familiarity with IFRS, Spanish GAAP, or other European frameworks is welcome but not essential.
We're particularly interested in people who have helped improve the effectiveness of a finance function, strengthening financial controls, enhancing reconciliation processes, managing complex balance sheet reconciliations, or supporting intercompany accounting in an international environment.
