About Submer
Submer enables sustainable digital infrastructure by providing cutting-edge liquid cooling solutions for data centers. Our technology is designed to reduce environmental impact while improving performance and efficiency. We are a purpose-driven company with a passion for innovation and a growing global presence.
What impact you will have
We’re hiring a Senior Thermal Engineer with strong CFD experience to lead the thermal analysis for our modular MEP systems used in data centers. You’ll be responsible for predicting airflow, heat transfer and system-level thermal performance across our prefabricated cooling modules, integrated mechanical assemblies and full data center deployments. Your work will directly influence how each MEP module is designed, optimized and integrated into the overall facility. You’ll collaborate with mechanical engineers, system architects, electrical teams and product engineers from concept through validation and commissioning.
What you’ll do
Lead CFD modeling and thermal analysis for modular MEP units including cooling modules, AHUs, heat exchangers, coil assemblies and integrated mechanical skids.
Simulate airflow, pressure drops, heat rejection, containment performance and rack-level temperature distribution for module and facility designs.
Evaluate thermal interactions between modules and the broader data hall, including hot aisle/cold aisle strategies and containment approaches.
Support mechanical engineers in optimizing module internals such as fan layouts, coil sizing, ducting, piping geometry and enclosure design.
Develop and own thermal performance envelopes and operating limits for each MEP module.
Build parametric simulation models to support rapid concept evaluation, trade studies and design optimization.
Validate CFD results using vendor data, bench tests, prototype measurements and commissioning feedback.
Provide system architects with thermal constraints, module-to-module interface requirements and integration considerations.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments and FMEA sessions for MEP module development.
Support on-site testing, commissioning and troubleshooting by correlating real-world measurements with simulation predictions.
Maintain internal CFD workflows, documentation standards, libraries and templates tailored to modular system design.
Mentor junior analysts and help build strong thermal analysis capability within the MEP modules program.
What you’ll need
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Thermal Sciences or a related field.
7–10+ years of thermal engineering experience with a strong focus on CFD simulation.
Proficiency with CFD tools such as ANSYS Fluent, Star-CCM+, OpenFOAM, COMSOL or similar.
Strong grounding in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics and HVAC fundamentals.
Experience working with cooling systems, mechanical skids, air handling equipment or other thermally-sensitive industrial systems.
Ability to interpret CFD results and translate them into specific design changes for modules and mechanical systems.
Comfort working with CAD models and complex geometry.
Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
What we offer
Attractive compensation package refleting your expertise and experience.
Medical Insurance Plan.
401k Employee volunteer contribution Plan.
A great work environment characterised by friendliness, international diversity, flexibility, and a hybrid-friendly approach.
You´ll be part of a fast-growing scale-up with a mission to make a positive impact, offering an exciting career evolution.
Our job titles may span more than one job level. The actual base pay is dependent on a number of factors, such as transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands.
