As we grow, we’re looking for a highly skilled and fully bilingual Legal Counsel to support our legal operations in Spain.
What impact you will have
We’re seeking a seasoned Legal Counsel with strong expertise in Spanish contract law, corporate legal matters, and compliance. This role will be instrumental in managing Spanish-language contracts, NDAs, and legal operations involving external counsel. In addition to strong legal capabilities, we are looking for a commercially-minded professional with solid in-house experience advising executive leadership and a deep understanding of the technology business landscape
What you’ll do
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements in Spanish and English, including NDAs, service agreements, and vendor contracts.
- Provide legal advice to internal teams on contractual obligations, compliance, and risk management.
- Manage legal aspects of Submer’s operations in Spain, including corporate, labor, and regulatory matters.
- Liaise with outside counsel on specialized or complex legal issues (e.g., litigation, IP, employment).
- Support cross-functional teams such as Sales, HR, and Operations with legal insights and contract support.
- Maintain legal documentation and ensure accurate record-keeping and contract management.
- Monitor changes in Spanish and EU laws that impact the business and help ensure compliance.
- Assist in developing and standardizing legal templates, policies, and internal processes.
What you’ll need
- Law degree from a Spanish university; admission to the Spanish Bar is preferred.
- 6–10 years of relevant legal experience, with proven experience both in private practice and in-house, advising executive leadership.
- Deep knowledge of Spanish contract and commercial law.
- In-depth understanding of the technology industry, including SaaS or infrastructure-related contracts, is highly valued.
- Fully bilingual in Spanish and English (written and spoken), with the ability to draft and negotiate legal documents in both languages.
- Demonstrated experience working with external legal counsel and managing legal projects independently.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with a business-oriented mindset.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, and international environment.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of data protection (GDPR) or employment law.
- Previous experience in a scale-up or multinational environment.
