At SeaPattern, we increase the power output of existing hydropower plants without building new dams or infrastructure. Our modular hydrokinetic turbines are deployed downstream of existing turbines, unlocking additional renewable energy from assets already in place. Founded in Sweden in 2020, we are now entering a commercial phase with utilities across Europe. Our mission is simple: more renewable electricity from existing hydropower.
We are now looking for a Master’s student or recent graduate in Business, Marketing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field to join our team as a Business Development Intern. This is a 50% to full-time position, where you will work closely under our Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) and gain hands-on experience in shaping our commercial growth in Sweden, Germany and other international markets.
As an intern, your main focus will be site scoping; mapping and assessing Swedish rivers and hydropower sites through a combination of desktop research and on-site visits, some of which relate to strategically important national infrastructure. Alongside this, you will support the team with market research, opportunity identification, customer preparation, and customer dialogues. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to real projects in a highly regulated and strategically important industry, while learning from experienced professionals in a high-impact environment.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
Support site scoping from desktop-based research (flow conditions, site geometry, existing infrastructure, permitting) through to on-site visits assessing the feasibility of potential deployment sites across Sweden
Work closely with our technical team (e.g. CFD) to help interpret site data and contribute to feasibility and production assessments
Maintain and structure a database of scoped and prospective sites, including status, key data and next steps
Support development of SeaPattern’s commercial strategy in Sweden, Germany and other European markets
Conduct market and customer research within the hydropower sector
Identify and map new commercial opportunities with utilities and partners
Prepare customer presentations, proposals and commercial models and maintain the commercial pipeline and CRM
Participate in customer meetings, conferences and industry events
We are looking for the following qualifications:
Master’s student or recent graduate in Business, Marketing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
Strong analytical skills and curiosity & willingness to learn about the hydropower market
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage credibly with different stakeholders.
Comfortable working with data research, data in Excel and prepare external presentations
Organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Comfortable using modern digital and AI tools to accelerate research, analysis and content creation.
Additional European languages are a plus, particularly German
