Engineering Intern
Join us on our mission to enable a fully clean and stable energy grid for all!
We usually respond within three days
Work directly with the engineering team on data analysis, testing, and design development of hydrokinetic turbine systems.
About SeaPattern
Enabling a world where the full potential of hydropower is unlocked!
At SeaPattern, we increase the power output of existing hydropower plants without building new dams or infrastructure. Our modular hydrokinetic turbines are deployed downstream of existing turbines, unlocking additional renewable energy from assets already in place. Founded in Sweden in 2020, we are now entering a commercial phase with utilities across Europe. Our mission is simple: more renewable electricity from existing hydropower.
We are now looking for a 3rd- or 4th- year student in Mechanical Engineering or similar to join our team as an Engineering Intern. This is a 50% position where you will work closely with our engineering team and gain hands-on experience in testing, analysis, and development of our technology.
As an intern, you will support the team in data analysis, testing, design validation, and engineering processes. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to real hardware development in the renewable energy sector, while learning from experienced engineers in a high-impact environment.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
Support analysis of test data from laboratory and field experiments (e.g., hydrodynamic, structural, or system-level testing)
Contribute to the planning and execution of tests, including development of test protocols
Review technical standards and extract relevant requirements for ongoing projects
Assist in design iterations through calculations, data analysis, and background research
Support documentation of results and ensure traceability within verification and validation (V&V) activities
Participate in design reviews and team meetings, contributing insights and improvement ideas
You’ll gain experience in the engineering workflow from early-stage concept to final system validation, including:
Data analysis and experimental testing
Engineering documentation and verification/validation (V&V)
Design support and technical problem-solving
Engineering processes and design reviews
We are looking for the following qualifications:
Currently studying in your 3rd or 4th year of a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, Engineering Physics, or a related field
Strong analytical skills and interest in data analysis and physical systems
Organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
Strong attention to detail when working with test results, requirements, and technical documentation
Why Join SeaPattern?
Real Impact
Your work directly increases renewable energy production in operating hydropower plants. Not in theory in real facilities, with measurable results.
Build What Matters
You will work hands-on with deeptech systems combining hardware and advanced analytics, together with a tight team of engineers, scientists, and builders.
Grow Fast Through Ownership
You won’t be a small part of a large system. You will own real problems end-to-end from idea and design to testing and implementation and grow through doing.
How We Work
At SeaPattern, how we work matters just as much as what we build.
Focus creates momentum
We prioritize what matters most and move fast from idea to implementation.
Feedback makes us better
We challenge ideas, give direct feedback, and improve together.
Accountability builds trust
We take ownership, deliver on commitments, and communicate early.
Recruitment process
We’re reviewing applications continuously, so don’t wait to apply. The position is based at SeaPattern’s office in Linköping, Sweden. A valid EU and Swedish work permit is required. At SeaPattern, we celebrate diversity and welcome talent from all backgrounds.

About SeaPattern
SeaPattern was founded in Sweden by a team of visionary scientists, innovators and engineers who shared a common vision - to unleash the power of hydropower.
We want to make hydropower more efficient, sustainable and accessible. Our modular, floating hydrokinetic turbines are placed in an optimized microgrid, increasing the energy output of existing hydropower plants without new infrastructure or environmental harm. Our solution is scalable, affordable, and non-invasive, and can also serve as a standalone run-of-the-river solution in areas where traditional hydropower isn’t viable.
This kind of energy is exactly the kind of energy solution the world needs - fast, scalable, and affordable. The future of clean energy won’t build itself. Let’s get to work together - join our mission!
