About the role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Data Governance Analyst to support the implementation and maintenance of our organization's data governance framework. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring data quality, compliance, and consistency across the enterprise, collaborating closely with Data Owners, Stewards, and IT teams to uphold data policies and standards. This role is crucial for maximizing the value of our data assets and supporting data-driven decision-making.
Specific Responsibilities
1.Policy & Standards Implementation
- Assist in the documentation, communication, and enforcement of data governance policies, standards, and procedures (e.g., data definition, data quality, data access, and data lifecycle management).
- Work with Data Owners and Stewards to define and maintain critical data elements (CDEs) and their associated business definitions, rules, and quality metrics.
- Support the creation and maintenance of the Enterprise Data Catalog and Business Glossary.
2.Data Quality & Monitoring
- Develop, execute, and monitor data quality controls and metrics, reporting on compliance against established thresholds.
- Investigate data quality issues and work with relevant teams (e.g., source system owners, IT) to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Track and manage data governance issues and resolution status using established reporting tools.
3.Compliance & Regulatory Support
- Ensure that data governance policies align with internal audit requirements and external regulatory mandates (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, industry-specific compliance).
- Assist in performing data risk assessments and ensuring adherence to data security and privacy protocols.
4.Training & Change Management
- Help create and deliver training materials for Data Stewards and broader business users on data governance best practices and tools.
- Act as a key liaison between business units and technology teams to drive understanding and adoption of governance standards.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Management, or a related field.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience working in a data-focused role, with specific experience in Data Governance, Data Quality, or Data Stewardship programs.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Solid understanding of database concepts and SQL.
- Familiarity with Data Governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alteryx, or similar).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for a non-technical audience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
Requirements - additional
- Knowledge of global data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Certification in Data Governance or Data Management (e.g., CDMP, CIGO).
- Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
