Position Summary

Resolve to Save Lives (RTSL) works to prevent 100 million deaths from cardiovascular disease and make the world safer from epidemics. The Senior Consultant, Philanthropic Partnerships plays a key role in sustaining and growing RTSL’s impact by cultivating, securing, and stewarding institutional and philanthropic funding.

This position manages a portfolio of existing and prospective donors, ensuring effective solicitation, engagement, and follow-up that advance organizational priorities. The Consultant will collaborate closely with the Chief Development Officer, President & CEO, and senior leadership to strengthen donor relationships, develop compelling proposals, and drive RTSL’s long-term fundraising strategy.

Core Tasks and Activities

1. Grants and Institutional Relations

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for RTSL’s portfolio of grants-based and institutional funders.
  • Lead the strategy, coordination, and preparation of grant proposals, working closely with program teams and leadership to ensure alignment with donor priorities.
  • Draft, edit, and submit high-quality proposals and reports, managing timelines and compliance through relevant portals and systems.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with donors and foundation staff — engaging in regular communication, alignment meetings, and stewardship activities to foster long-term partnership.
  • Conduct and contribute to prospect research and outreach to identify and engage new philanthropic partners.
  • Maintain a detailed calendar of proposal and report deadlines to ensure all submissions are timely and accurate.

2. Development Operations and Donor Communications

  • Draft donor-related correspondence and communications on behalf of the CEO and senior leadership.
  • Prepare high-quality donor materials — including proposals, concept notes, talking points, and reports — that clearly communicate RTSL’s mission, impact, and priorities.
  • Support and document donor meetings, ensuring timely and effective follow-up and tracking in the CRM system.
  • Manage development workflows, including tracking donor contacts, deadlines, and upcoming funding opportunities.
  • Support Development team staff (e.g., Development Associate) in maintaining accurate records, databases, and donor research.
  • Contribute to the development of boilerplate materials (mission statements, organizational overviews, capability narratives) used across RTSL’s fundraising and communications platforms.

3. Strategy and Collaboration

  • Partner with leadership to inform long-term fundraising plans and identify emerging opportunities for institutional support.
  • Collaborate with Communications, Program, Finance, and Legal teams to ensure cohesive and compliant proposal and reporting processes.
  • Keep the Chief Development Officer, CEO, and leadership team informed of fundraising progress, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Take on additional responsibilities as requested by the CDO.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., communications, international development, public health, nonprofit management) or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, institutional relations, or grant management.
  • Proven success writing and managing complex proposals and reports for institutional donors.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate technical program information into compelling, donor-friendly language.
  • Strong relationship management skills and experience engaging with donors and partners.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Familiarity with global health, international development, or related fields preferred.
