Lab Manager
On-site | Full-time | Borås
What we are looking for
Are you a highly-organised and safety-minded professional who takes pride in keeping a lab running like clockwork? Do you enjoy the mix of hands-on analytical work and the discipline of maintaining equipment, protocols, and a safe working environment? Are you someone who can juggle multiple priorities, support a fast-moving R&D team, and consistently deliver reliable, high-quality data?
If so, we would love to hear from you. Join us in scaling a groundbreaking technology that is transforming the future of textile recycling.
Your mission at Renasens
You see a lab not just as a workspace, but as a system that needs to run safely, cleanly, and reliably for the science to happen. You will take ownership of day-to-day lab operations, safety, equipment, and organization, while also rolling up your sleeves to run and support the analyses that drive our R&D decisions, from dye removal characterization to fiber mechanical testing.
Own lab safety end-to-end: ensure protocols, PPE use, chemical handling, storage, and waste disposal meet regulatory and internal standards
Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment including analytical and mechanical instruments, coordinating servicing and repairs as needed
Assist the R&D team in running analyses supporting treatment & dye removal development, including TGA, spectrophotometry and chromatography
Run and support mechanical characterization of fibers, including tensile strength, bursting strength, fiber length and spinnability
Manage lab consumables, inventory, and equipment logs to keep experiments running without interruption
Develop and maintain SOPs for equipment use, safety procedures, and testing protocols
Keep the lab organized, clean, and audit-ready at all times
Work closely with technicians and process engineers, flagging equipment or safety issues before they become blockers
What you bring
BSc or MSc in chemistry, materials science, textile engineering, or a related field. Industry or lab-operations experience is a strong plus.
Hands-on experience with analytical lab equipment (TGA, spectrophotometry, XRD, or similar) and mechanical testing equipment (tensile strength, bursting strength & fiber length testers)
Ownership of lab safety practices, chemical handling, and regulatory requirements
Who you are
Safety-first: you don't cut corners, and you make sure others don't either
Reliable and independent: you take ownership of the lab's day-to-day and deliver without needing close supervision
Detail-oriented: you notice when something's slightly off with equipment or data before it becomes a bigger problem
Team over ego: you're there to support the wider R&D effort, not just your own tasks
Comfortable switching between hands-on lab work, equipment troubleshooting, and administrative upkeep (logs, SOPs, inventory)
Thrive in a fast-paced environment, energized by ambitious timelines and a growing lab
Great to have, but not required
Experience with dye-fiber chemistry or textile recycling processes
Experience with mechanical testing standards for textiles/fibers
Prior experience setting up or managing a lab from an early stage startup
How we work at Renasens
Onsite & hands-on: Our pilot plant is in Borås and this role is based where the work happens, close to the lab and the pilot, not behind a laptop. Expect to spend most of your time on site, keeping the lab running and supporting the team's experiments.
Small team, high ownership: We are around 10 people. You will own lab operations end-to-end and work directly with the R&D team, industrial engineer and CEO. No layers, no committees.
Pace matters: We have pilot reception milestones in 2026 and customer commitments behind them. We move fast, decide with the data we have, and iterate.

How to apply
Send us your CV and a short note on why this role excites you; we care more about how you think and work than a perfectly polished cover letter. If you've got a project, lab notebook, or piece of work you're proud of, feel free to include it too.
We review applications on a rolling basis, so don't wait until the last minute. If there's a fit, expect to hear from us quickly; we move fast, and we'd love for you to see that from day one.
