Renaissance Fusion
Head of EaS
Renaissance Fusion is Europe’s first private nuclear fusion company. Our mission is to make clean, safe, and virtually limitless energy a reality. Based in Grenoble, France, we are developing advanced stellarator technology and pioneering breakthroughs in superconductors, magnets, cryogenics, liquid metals, and plasma physics.
The EAS team collaborates across all R&D departments at Renaissance Fusion, providing high-level engineering services to enable the success of each project. Acting as an internal consulting and implementation unit, the EAS team ensures the translation of innovative ideas into robust, manufacturable engineering solutions.
Your Role
As Head of Engineering as a Service, you will lead this multidisciplinary team and drive excellence in engineering delivery across the company. You will coordinate cross-functional projects, oversee the deployment of engineering resources, and ensure the timely, efficient, and high-quality execution of designs, assemblies, and systems supporting our fusion technology development.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
- Oversee the execution of engineering requests from internal R&D teams (Magnets, HTS, Cryogenics, Liquid Metal, Stellarator Design, etc.) aligning with the company’s R&D roadmap and long-term goals.
- Ensure project prioritization, resource allocation, and schedule adherence across multiple concurrent projects.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, documentation, and design standards.
- Foster collaboration between R&D scientists and engineers to accelerate innovation and manufacturability.
- Manage external engineering suppliers and partners when needed.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and accountability within the team
Team management
- Form and lead the EAS department (group leaders, engineers and technicians).
- Be the ambassador of Renaissance Fusion's vision within your team and promote its culture, values (speed, simplicity, fantastic realism, constructive interference, and unified force), and policies
- Encourage collaboration at all levels of the organization
- Ensure that your team is motivated to achieve its objectives: set targets and follow them up with encouragement, support, feedback and responsibility
- Ensure that employees are in the best position to achieve their objectives: listen to them, look after their well-being, make sure they have the appropriate tools and skills; fill the gap if necessary (recruitment, training, reorganization…)
- Take an active role in talent development: identify potential, determine areas and opportunities for development, encourage reflection on professional projects, propose training courses
- Appoint, empower, inspire and coordinate the group-leaders. Train the group-leaders of tomorrow
- Comply with and enforce the highest Health, Environment and Safety standards within your teams. Ensure that the laboratory is a safe, clean, well-organized, pleasant workplace by controlling many hazards (magnetic fields, high electric currents, very high and low temperatures, gases and high-pressure liquids, etc.)
