About RWI
The Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) has worked for more than forty years to promote respect for human rights through research, education and capacity development. We believe that by supporting practitioners and bringing people together around human rights, on the basis of new knowledge and tools developed, connecting theory and practice, we contribute to lasting human rights change. RWI is an independent academic institution established at Lund University in Sweden in 1984. Currently, we have offices in Bangkok, Harare, Jakarta, Lund, Nairobi, Phnom Penh and Yerevan.

RWI’s Europe Office (EO) is managed from Lund and currently focuses initiatives and programme development in Ukraine and the wider Europe region, covering the Eastern Partnership, Western Balkans as well as EU countries. For more information, click here.
About the internship
The internship can be conducted in person, in Lund, part-time (20 hours per week) or full-time (40 hours per week). We expect you to start in January 2025 (earlier/ later date negotiable) and stay till June 2025.
Unfortunately, the internship is unpaid, and we don’t have funds to cover any costs relating to it.
Main tasks
During your internship you will:
- collect information and analysis about human rights, access to justice, and international development to support our projects and other engagement in the region.
- help develop communications content about our work in the region for our website, social media, and other channels.
- map relevant funding opportunities, events, contacts, trends concerning Ukraine and other countries in the region.
- support development of the respective proposals to various donors.
Qualifications and Eligibility Criteria
You are currently enrolled in any of the relevant master’s programmes at Lund University, or in other relevant academic programmes within commuting distance to Lund. You have experience with and/ or knowledge of Ukraine and the region and are interested in deepening your knowledge of human rights and developing your project management skills. You can communicate fluently in English. Knowledge of Ukrainian will be a strong advantage.
You are able to work both independently and in teams, find it easy to collaborate and are reliable, curious, and proactive.
You have a valid residence permit in the EU.
Cultural sensitivity is a requirement.
