📌 Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, deeply technical engineering leader to partner closely with the CTO and CEO. This individual will lead all engineering teams, ensure architectural excellence, and drive strategic technical decision-making. You will be a key force in scaling our clinical AI platform, shaping core infrastructure, and guiding both platform reliability and team growth.
🎯 Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Own the end-to-end architecture and design of the Qu platform across all engineering domains (backend, orchestration, infra, and AI).
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering team. Promote engineering best practices, code quality, and DevOps excellence.
- Architecture and Scalability: Design systems with a strong focus on scalability, modularity, performance, and clinical safety—especially around our Orchestrator, KB, and Agent framework.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with product, clinical, and compliance teams to ensure secure, regulated, and privacy-preserving solutions (GDPR, HIPAA, MDR).
- Platform Evolution: Lead decisions on multi-cloud architecture, data privacy boundaries, AI pipeline evolution, and integration with EHRs and third-party models.
- Risk & Security Management: Identify technical risks and establish mitigation strategies, especially in areas involving patient safety and AI reliability.
🧠 Requirements
- 7+ years experience in software engineering with 3+ years leading technical architecture at a senior level.
- Proven expertise in building scalable AI/ML platforms and orchestrating multi-agent LLM systems.
- Experience in regulated industries (healthtech strongly preferred).
- Deep fluency in cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP), CI/CD, and security best practices.
- Passion for mentoring engineers and scaling technical teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bonus: Experience with synthetic data generation, LLM prompt engineering, or medical device software regulations.
✅ Strategic Fit
- Technical Feasibility: Will shape a long-term architectural foundation for a distributed, multi-agent AI system handling clinical logic.
- Resource Implications: Will help reduce direct oversight burden on the CTO and accelerate velocity by enabling parallel execution across teams.
- Security/Compliance: Will ensure critical design decisions comply with EU AI Act, MDR, GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2-readiness.
- Business Value: Drives engineering maturity, scalability, and time-to-market alignment with clinical deployments.
- Risk Mitigation: Proactively reduces platform fragility and helps resolve architectural debt from early MVP decisions.
🚀 What We Offer
- A chance to solve one of healthcare’s biggest bottlenecks with cutting-edge tech. The opportunity to impact millions of lives globally.
- Work with a world-class clinical and AI team.
- Equity options and competitive salary.
- Work from beautiful Barcelona, but also remote opportunity for the right person (with EU timezone alignment).
