Admissions Counselor

Position Summary:
This position reports to the Vice President of Admissions and is responsible for coordinating a variety of enrollment related activities, including marketing, recruitment, and the processing of transfer student applications.

Responsibilities:
  • Recruitment & Marketing: Market OC to families and represent the university at college fairs, school visits, youth events, churches, and community colleges.
  • Goal Performance: Consistently meet and exceed weekly contact goals to hit monthly, quarterly, and annual enrollment targets.
  • Relationship Management: Build lasting relationships with prospective transfer students, parents, church leaders, alumni, and guidance counselors.
  • Communication: Maintain and document regular outreach via email, phone, face-to-face, text, and social media.
  • Events & Visits: Coordinate individual meetings, group info sessions, and campus visits.
  • Alumni Collaboration: Partner with the Office of Alumni Relations to mobilize alumni for transfer student recruitment.
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree required (graduate degree a plus); higher education, admissions, sales, or customer service experience preferred.
  • Faith Alignment: Active member of a local church, aligned with OC’s Christian mission, and dedicated to making a meaningful difference.
  • Communication: Exceptional oral/written communication skills, including public speaking and effective use of social media.
  • Work Style: Self-motivated starter who works well independently, yet functions as a collaborative, adaptable team player.
  • Professional Attributes: Impeccable integrity, strong organizational skills, calm under pressure, and highly discreet with sensitive information.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to connect, communicate, and positively engage with students and colleagues.
  • Institutional Knowledge: Familiarity with Oklahoma Christian University.
Work Conditions:
  • Standard hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Extensive year-round travel, including evening and weekend events.
  • Primarily indoor office setting with outdoor exposure during travel and events
