Mechanical Engineering Faculty (Tenure-Track)

Position Summary: The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Oklahoma Christian University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position. As a teaching-focused institution, we prioritize student mentorship, excellent classroom instruction, and holistic student development.
In this role, you will teach undergraduate courses, mentor senior capstone projects, and frequently interact with and advise students. While research efforts are welcomed and encouraged, they are not a requirement for tenure. This position reports directly to the Dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Engineering Instruction: Teach undergraduate courses (12 hours per semester) based upon the needs of the department and your specific area of expertise.
  • Capstone Mentorship: Guide and mentor students through senior engineering capstone design projects.
  • Student Advising: Hold regular office hours for student aid, academic advisement, and career mentorship, including providing recommendations for students entering the industry.
  • Accreditation & Assessment: Complete formal course assessments and improvement projects as a part of the regular ABET accreditation process.
  • Departmental Advancement: Assist with general department initiatives, including student recruitment, industry relations, curriculum development, and fundraising.
  • Mission Integration: Participate in campus life, which may include delivering chapel devotionals and supporting the spiritual growth of students.
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with undergraduate students about life, academics, and advising, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Mission Alignment: Must be actively engaged in a life of Christian faith and service, demonstrated by conduct consistent with the OC Covenant and beliefs consistent with the OC Statement of Commitment, including active membership in a local church.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (highly preferred for tenure-track track).
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Systems Engineering, or Aerodynamics.
  • Prior teaching or industry experience.
