Technical Specialist for University Events

Position Overview: Reporting to the Information Technology Department, the Technical Specialist supports all technical aspects of University Events. This is a full-time, entry-level technical support position with a flexible schedule designed to support event needs. While occasional evening and weekend hours are required for event coverage, compensatory time is provided for approved hours worked beyond 40 per week. Scheduling is coordinated with the Director of Events to promote balance and effective event support.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • The Technical Specialist oversees technical operations and maintenance for University Events, including—but not limited to—lighting, staging, sound, and video support for the following:
    • Conference Center events
    • Music Department performances
  • University and external productions, including but not limited to:
    • Daily Chapel
    • Graduation
    • Various campus events
  • Other duties as assigned

Supervision and Scheduling:

  • Supervise and support student employees assisting with technical operations
  • Coordinate student employee schedules to align with event requirements and academic commitments
  • Coordinate technical event scheduling using University software systems
  • Coordinate chapel-related technical scheduling and staffing as needed

Facilities and Equipment Management:

  • Oversee technical equipment, systems, and procedures for all university venues
Additional Events (Stipend-Based):
Participation in the following events may be negotiated and includes an additional stipend:
  • Freshman Fanfare
  • Musicals
  • Spring Sing
  • Cabaret
Required Qualifications:
  • Commitment to serving in a Christian environment that supports the mission and ideals of a Kingdom University
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and in a leadership role
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to task completion
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively support university events
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Physical ability to:
    • Lift at least 50 lbs
    • Climb ladders
    • Operate lifts as required
  • Working knowledge of lighting, sound, and video systems
  • Willingness and desire to learn
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A+ Certification
  • AV industry certifications
