The role is a part of our Northvolt Sytems Manufacturing Engineering team based in Poland, Gdansk. By joining us, you will be a key player in providing complete manufacturing solutions from manufacturing equipment, Karakuri systems, logistics equipment to buffer stations and lean manufacturing standards to contribute to our role in achieving a carbon free society.

About the job

The role of a Manufacturing Solutions Designer, is to take responsibility in designing, developing, commissioning, validating and ramp-up, high end semi-automatic and automatic manufacturing solutions such as Adhesive Dispensing, Laser and/or Plastic Welding, Tightening, Electric Tests, Vision Systems, Stations Buffers based on process and design requirements, supporting the battery systems product portfolio and the next generation shift in manufacturing technologies

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Execute 3D and 2D design of manufacturing equipment, product fixtures, robot grippers, feeding shelfs for manufacturing, ensuring alignment with production requirements, quality standards, ergonomics and safety regulations

  • Lead the 3D and 2D design and design reviews of manufacturing equipment, product fixtures, robot grippers, feeding shelfs for manufacturing, ensuring alignment with production requirements, quality standards, ergonomics and safety regulations

  • Incorporate principles of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement into manufacturing solutions design to maximize efficiency and minimize waste

  • Development and implementation of Karakuri systems and material handling systems to ensure smooth and efficient flow of raw materials, semifinished goods and finished products throughout the manufacturing process

  • Take ownership of manufacturing solutions risk assessment activities, including identification, evaluation, and mitigation of safety risks associated with product handling, equipment operation, maintenance and emergency scenarios at stations levels
