The Blueprint Team is on a mission to develop a digital factory blueprint for a scalable, rapidly deployable, highly efficient world-class battery factory. It constitutes a complete solution that spans process, equipment, materials, facility, utilities and people, with guidelines and tools needed for the establishment of a factory.

Factory Integration, CSA and MEP

In Factory Design team, especially in CSA & Factory Integration team and MEP & Energy team, we care about the holistic design of the factory. The team is responsible for the creation of standards and guidelines with the main purpose of designing an optimized architectural shell which allows the performance of the whole battery manufacturing process, as the same time we coordinate, assess, and develop during the preliminary stages of the project.

(Senior) Architectural Design Engineer:

Key responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Creation and review of Northvolt architectural design philosophies and guidelines.
  • Collect, coordinate and structure the architectural design requirements from the factory users, amongst all teams and engineering disciplines while ensuring coordination between internal/external stakeholders and design consultants and compliance with environmental requirements.
  • Preparation and review of concept and basic design and provide technical support during Detail Design and Execution phases, acting as the main design authority.

We believe that you have :

  • Bachelors or Master’s in Architectural Engineering
  • 10+ years working experience, preferably in industrial projects
  • Excellent English written and oral skills
  • Proficiency in 2D/3D software, such as Auto CAD, Revit, 3d Studio MAX, Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and/or SketchUp

Bonus points for:

  • Experience and interest in manufacturing industry
  • Fluency in other languages (Swedish, German)
  • Previous experience with large scale projects is strongly desirable but not essential

(Senior) Structural Design Engineer

Key responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Creation and review of Northvolt structural design philosophies and guidelines.
  • Collect, coordinate and structure the structural design requirements from the factory users, amongst all teams and engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure coordination between internal/external stakeholders and design consultants and compliance with environmental requirements.
  • Preparation and review of concept and basic design within the Structural discipline.

We believe that you have:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Civil or/and Structural Engineering
  • 10+ years working experience, preferably in industrial projects
  • Excellent English written and oral skills
  • Strong experience with both 3D and 2D design tools such as Revit Structural, as well as Robot and/or Staad Pro

Bonus points for:

  • Experience and interest in manufacturing industry
  • Fluency in other languages (Swedish, German)
  • Previous experience with large scale projects is strongly desirable but not essential


(Senior) Civil Design Engineer

Key responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Preparation and review of concept and basic design within the Civil discipline.
  • Provide technical support during Detail Design and Execution phases, acting as the main design authority..
  • Develop and review civil engineering deliverables, including construction document drawings, specifications, and calculations (i.e. roads, grading, drainage, deep piping, layout and design geometric, paving, and site utilities, etc.)

We believe that you have:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Civil Engineering
  • +10 years’ work experience in building industry, preferably designing complex manufacturing/production facilities and its infrastructure
  • Strong experience with Revit, AutoDesk Civil 3D for civil site design or Vestra
  • Great English written and oral skills to ensure smooth and efficient communication

Bonus points for:

  • Previous experience with large scale projects is strongly desirable but not essential
  • Familiarity with Swedish and European laws and standards

Design Manager - Building Integration

Key responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Drive and manage, together with a cross-functional team within Northvolt, the design of a key building block in our factory blueprint.
  • Set the direction and drive technical decisions on the design to ensure that the factory designs are competitive (cost/performance), modular, easy to ramp up, and possible to operate in a sustainable way.
  • Organize and manage design reviews, construction design packages and deliverables to support all aspects of construction, including scope of work, kick-off, studies, 30-70-90, etc.

We believe that you have:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Architectural (preferred), civil, mechanical, structural or equivalent.
  • 10+ years working experience, preferably coordinating cross-functional teams and managing resources.
  • Excellent English written and oral skills.
  • Experience driving complex industrial projects and broad understanding of engineering disciplines.

Bonus points for:

  • Proficient in MS Suite.
  • Fluency in other languages (Swedish, German).
  • Experience in multi-cultural environments.
  • Ability to work under high pressure and tight deadlines

Design Manager - Site Integration

  • Excellent English written and oral skills.

Global Discipline Lead C&D Room

Key responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Creation and review of Northvolt Clean and Dry Room design philosophies and guidelines, as collecting, coordinating and structuring the Clean and Dry Room design requirements from the factory users, amongst all the teams and engineering disciplines.
  • Make technical decisions for competitive, modular, scalable, and sustainable designs. This includes facilitating design reviews, managing blueprint upgrades, and reporting results to management.
  • Capture Lessons Learned, establish and drive standards for key design documents, and co-develop/collect design documents such as Technical Equipment Specifications and User Requirement Specifications.

We would like to include a proactive, innovative, and curious person who can bring and assess new solutions for C&D room, with solid experience in this environment and with construction experience

We believe that you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or/and Industrial Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience preferably in industrial projects, especially in the Clean and Dry Room scope (Battery Knowledge is a plus)
  • Strong experience with both 3D and 2D design tools such as Revit or Autocad

Global Discipline Lead - Electrical + I&C Engineer

Key responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Creation and review of Northvolt Electrical + I&C (EIC) design philosophies and guidelines.
  • Collect, coordinate and structure the EIC design requirements from the factory users, amongst all teams and engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure coordination between internal/external stakeholders and design consultants and compliance with environmental requirements.
  • Preparation and review of concept and basic design within the EIC disciplines.

We believe that you have:

  • Bachelors’ Degree or Masters’ in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 10+ years working experience, preferably in industrial projects (such as pharma, data centers, oil & gas, automotive), especially in the EIC scope.
  • Experience with design and/or commissioning in the field of HV, MV, LV and associated control and protection system.
  • Excellent English written and oral skills.

Bonus points for:

  • Proficient in MS Suite.
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD…) for electrical and control systems is preferred but not required.
  • Fluency in other languages (Swedish, German).
  • Experience in multi-cultural environments.
  • Ability to work under high pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Swedish and European laws and standards
  • Knowledge of Instrument & Control (I&C) or Building Monitoring System (BMS) design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of requirements and concept design deliverables.

  • Electrical Engineer Specialist - Power System Calculation

Key responsibilities included but not limited to:

  • Modelling under the ETAP software the internal electrical distribution networks to carry out the electrical studies associated with a project as well as the corresponding calculation notes,
  • Power system calculations and associated reports: load distribution and voltage profile, short-circuit, motor starting, cable calculations, harmonics, dynamic studies, arc flash, discrimination and protection settings,
  • Development and/or validation of the HTB-HTA-LV protection schemes implemented throughout our distribution systems,
  • Analyse the requirements of the system operator (Grid Code) to carry out HTB / HTA connection studies and coordinate the technical requirements with the Electrical Design Managers

We believe that you have:

  • Bachelors or Master’s in Electrical engineering
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in electrical design/engineering for heavy industrial, manufacturing or process facilities such as pharmaceutical, data centres, oil & gas, automotive, food & beverage manufacturing, etc.
  • Good theoretical basis for electrical calculations (sizing of cables, transformers, PFC, motor starting, load studies, load flows, short circuit calculations, harmonic studies and earth grid designs)
  • Preference if prior minimum experience using power systems simulation software such as ETAP, Powerfactory, MATLAB power system toolbox etc.
  • Fluency in English. Valuable (but not required) if fluency in other languages
  • Computer literacy (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project)
