What you will do

As Director of Quality Control, you will have a crucial role in leading all activities and people in the Quality Control lab. Reporting to the Senior Director Quality, this role will see you flex your skills across two distinct phases of NOVO Energy’s growth - the Project phase when we’re building and equipping the Gigafactory, and the Production phase when we’ll be making sustainable EV batteries in a hi-tech production environment.
During the project phase, you’ll play a major role in helping the Quality team deliver on the project plan in establishing a new QC- lab. Deliveries include layout, specifications, support in the Request for Quotation process and execution of installations and commissioning of analytical instruments.

You responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and develop the organization, leaders, and team members in line with NOVO Energy’s Mission, Vision, and Culture values.
  • Set, develop, and lead Quality strategy, objectives, and targets.
  • Drive continuous improvement within the team and processes.
  • Lead the operations of the QC laboratory, including mechanical and chemical materials analysis, incoming quality control, production quality control and failure analysis.
  • Accountable for the QC laboratory area, always ensuring safe operation by employees in the laboratories.
  • Own the QC instruments throughout the factory.
  • Define, own, and execute the method and equipment development roadmap, as well as the development and validation of analytical methods.
  • Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with the NOVO Energy QMS and ensure successful implementation and continued certification of ISO9001, ISO14001, IATF 16949, ISO 17025 and other relevant standards.

Skills & Requirements

To excel in this role, you need to have a proven strong leadership capability with 5-10 years’ experience from leading roles in a lab; Battery, Process, Food or Pharma industry. You are confident in your knowledge in QC methods, equipment, and tools as well as in statistics and problem-solving methods.
The importance of leading by example in a new organization is self-evident to you, and you operate with a high level of integrity also under pressure. As a person you are structured, organized and meticulous with excellent communication skills. You always strive to improve with focus on safety, quality, environment, and production efficiency.

We also see that you bring the following competencies and experiences:

  • MSc in e.g. Chemistry, Materials Science or Mechanical engineering.
  • Experience from setting up a lab intended for continuous 24/7 operation: chemical and / or mechanical.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, e.g. ISO 9001, and IATF16949
  • English, EQF level 6.
  • Able to organize teams and competences.
  • Able to efficiently sort and prioritize between tasks
  • Analytical and fact based when making decisions
  • Able to manage risk.
