With Germany being the core of European automotive manufacturing, its only natural it should also be a pioneer in scaling up battery cell manufacturing. At Northvolt we are excited to make this happen, and we have recently announced that Heide, Schleswig-Holstein, will be the location of our German Battery Gigafactory. The factory will be built in multiple phases over 5+ years and the factory represents a multi-billion Euro investment project. To enable this project we are now looking for a dedicated and driven PMO Project Engineer for Project Management Processes to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future.

The role is part of our passionate Program team based in Hamburg/Heide in Northern Germany. By joining us, you will be a key player in setting Program and Project Management standards of the first large scale European battery factories.

About the job

Your are responsible for developing and implementing Project Management Methods, Procedures and Processes across the Factory Program portfolio throughout all project phases. This includes establishing the as-is situation, identifying gaps and areas for improvement and aligning priorities. In this context you will play a key role in setting the standard for Program and Project Management for current and future Battery Factory Programs in Northvolt.

About the team

You will be part of the Northvolt Drei project team of about 40 employees that will have the overall responsibility of this mega project based in Heide Germany. Built in multiple phases over 5+ years the factory represents a multi-billion Euro investment project. Together with your colleagues from the Program team you will work with internal and external teams cross-functionally to deliver on company targets and in line with customer expectations.

In addition, this role will also benefit our other Factory Programs in Sweden and Canada.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Establish and review the existing set of Project related Processes, Procedures, Methods and Standards used throughout the Factory Programs.
  • Identify areas of improvement, propose implementation plans and align priorities
  • Ensure close alignment between all Northvolt Factory Programs.
  • Develop guiding documents that can be easily implemented and used as a reference for current and future team members and contractors.
  • Research best practices that might prove beneficial to Northvolt.
  • Ensure that our set of Procedures and Standards are in line with the tools we employ.
  • Provide training to colleagues within Northvolt as well as to prime contractors.

As PMO in this specific role in the Construction Industry you must have strong attention to detail, be able to work under pressure, and have a strong commitment to ethical conduct and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. You should possess excellent organizational and time-management skills and be able to work effectively and efficiently in a team environment. Also, you should be able to work collaboratively with all involved functions to ensure project success.
