We are looking for an experienced senior process engineer to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our passionate CAM (Cathode Active Materials) team based in Skellefteå or Västerås. By joining us, you will be a key player in establishing CAM and contribute to building one of the first large scale European battery factories.
In Västerås, we are currently developing and industrialising Northvolt’s next generation li-ion CAM. In joining us you will play an important role in validating, scaling-up and designing the process required to produce this new material. In Skellefteå, you will be a key member in the team that executes and drives the start-up of the first full-scale Northvolt production plant. About the Job
As a senior process engineer within the CAM wastewater area you will be required to take ownership of:
- Acting as the technical authority for CAM wastewater treatment within the larger Northvolt organization
- Technical accountability for process design of CAM wastewater facilities within Northvolt including;
- Industrialization of CAM process and concepts to meet long term objectives
- Development of technology and process improvements for existing and future facilities
- Ensure process design is according to latest most efficient/developed technology
- Ensure that process design conforms to all safety and environmental standards
- Drive process commissioning, start-up and have over to production of new facilities
- Establishment and running of relevant processes and forums to control process engineering deliverables throughout all project phases
- Lead process design engagement with EPCM contractors to ensure that CAM deliverables are met in CAPEX projects, both green and brownfield
- Lead and participate in vendor inspections, FATs and SATS ensure that process equipment conforms to functional requirements
- Supplier and vendor engagement with a focus on long term relationship development
Education/Experience
- BSc or MSc-degree in Chemical or Process Engineering
- 8+ years of relevant work experience post qualification, ideally within a design and/or EPCM environment
- Proven core process engineering skills, including industrial wastewater treatment design, commissioning and start-up experience
- Chemical precipitation, evaporation, crystallisation, Ultra filtration, Reverse Osmosis, dissolved air flotation and solids handling processes
- Experience in pCAM and CAM wastewater experience will be a plus
- Successful track record of leading process improvement projects in a production factory is advantageous
- Experience and interest in the manufacturing industry is a plus
- Familiar with DOE, SPS and QA troubleshooting tools is beneficial
- Proven supervisory and leadership skills
- Successful track record of leading process development and project establishment in early initiation phase including feasibility basic and value engineering practices in complex chemical processes
- Experience from scaling production in a fast-growing environment, ideally in the battery industry, mineral processing, chemical manufacturing, Pharma, Paper & Pulp, Electrochemical or similar industry
Full-time employment, fixed salary. The planned starting date is as soon as possible. You will be based in Västerås or Skellefteå, depending on which team you join.
