Medoma
Backend developer
Are you eager to tackle genuinely hard problems with real-world impact in healthcare? Then you should join our tech team at Medoma.
We’re here because we’ve chosen to collectively take on a huge and complex challenge: enabling high-quality acute care in patients’ homes through better technology and new ways of working. It isn’t easy - but we didn’t start this to make things easy. We started it to make a real difference for patients.
At Medoma, we’re building what we like to call the world’s largest hospital – in patients’ homes, also called Hospital at Home. Our platform orchestrates the complexity of delivering hospital-level care outside traditional facilities, supporting clinicians and healthcare providers at scale.
What you’ll work on
As a Backend developer at Medoma, you’ll work at the core of our platform, where correctness, reliability, and domain modelling really matter.
Our backend is built primarily in F#, using event sourcing as a core architectural pattern.
In this role, you’ll help design and implement systems that coordinate clinical workflows, logistics, and planning - such as routing and optimization, as well as scheduling shifts and home visits. Due to our startup nature, you’ll experience a wide range of work. Some days you’ll be exploring entirely new problem areas and learning as you go; other days you’ll be focused on more conventional tasks like integrations and refinements. We see both as essential parts of building a reliable product - and as valuable learning opportunities.
This includes building robust APIs and integrations with external healthcare systems, and collaborating closely with product, design, other developers and operations to deliver end-to-end solutions.
Our product strategy focuses on fully automated workflows powered by smart algorithms and AI - always with patient safety and operational reliability as first principles.
Who you are
To thrive at Medoma, you likely recognize yourself in several of these:
You enjoy solving complex problems together with others
You’re curious and enjoy understanding the why behind the business, not just the code
You like being challenged - and you challenge others with respect and empathy
Experience with functional programming is a strong plus
(although we value mindset and learning ability as much as specific tools)Bonus points if you have experience with Constraint Logic Programming (CLP), especially applied to planning, routing, or optimization problems.
Being a small and entrepreneurial company, we appreciate people who are willing to think beyond their immediate area while still having a clear technical home.
We work in a hybrid setup with a mix of office and remote work, and value regular in-person collaboration. For this role, we’re only considering candidates who are based in Sweden.
Why join Medoma?
Your work will directly improve how healthcare providers deliver care - impacting patients’ lives in a very real way
You’ll work with a highly skilled, kind, and self-driven tech team
You’ll help build a platform that truly hasn’t existed before
You’ll join a company that values ambition and sustainability - for both systems and people

About Medoma
Medoma is a Swedish product company developing technology that enables hospital care in the home. Through our platform, hospitals can create and operate so-called virtual wards - allowing patients to receive advanced care in their own homes instead of being admitted to hospital.
Our product supports the entire care journey outside the hospital walls, from logistics and planning to digital follow-up and remote monitoring of vital signs. By combining smart technology with existing care teams, we help providers deliver the right care in the right place.
We believe in a care model that benefits everyone: patients receive safer, more personalized care at home; hospitals can free up capacity for the most critically ill; and society gains a more sustainable and cost-effective healthcare system. Medoma exists to make that transition happen - in practice.
