About the role

As Legal and Compliance Counsel at Matsmart-Motatos, you’ll find yourself in the perfect intersection between law, business, tech and risk assessment. Are you ready for your next big challenge? Look no further - we are the perfect match!

We want you to join us in our mission to save more food while making sure we stay compliant and up to date with the market and new regulations. You’ll be responsible for all legal affairs across our markets and report to our CFO.

What you’ll do as Legal & Compliance Counsel

• Balance risk and reward as the go-to person for compliance matters across existing and potential future markets, including data privacy, consumer protection/legislation, and food safety.

• Hold overall responsibility for data privacy and GDPR compliance.

• Deliver training to staff on legal and compliance topics
• Draft and negotiate larger contracts, and support the organization with template agreements and self-service tools.
• Oversee corporate governance topics, including shareholder communications, formal compliance requirements, and decision documentation.
• Act as the main point of contact with external law firms, ensuring their advice is interpreted and implemented effectively.
• Play an active role in funding-related activities and lead legal due diligence processes.
• Explore and assess new business opportunities and their regulatory landscapes.
• Collaborate with our IT team to ensure compliance with information security regulations, such as NIS2

To be successful in this role, we believe you need

• Law degree from a Swedish university, or a master’s degree in business and commercial law (Affärsjuridisk masterexamen).
• At least two years’ work experience in a law firm or in a similar in-house role, preferably at a global growth company.
• Excellent communication skills in both Swedish and English, written and verbal.
• Combines attention to detail but with the ability to deliver quickly and efficiently
• Solid risk assessment skills, balancing the company’s need for speed with commercial interests.
• Ability to independently stay up to date with relevant legislation.

It's a plus if you

• Have additional language skills, especially German
• Have experience advising or working within a company operating across the EU or in e-commerce
• Have previous experience with data privacy matters
• Have experience from handling corporate governance related matters, such as AGMs, SHAs etc.
  

Start date: As soon as possible

Work extent: Full time, permanent position with a six-month probationary period
