LM International (Läkarmissionen) is a Swedish Global Foundation that has been working since 1958 to save lives, empower people and to ensure everyone's right to a dignified life in a sustainable world. We conduct international development cooperation work and humanitarian aid in about 20 countries.
We work in Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. We have approximately 500 employees, distributed between our Global office in Stockholm, mobilization offices in New York and Oslo, regional hubs in Panama City, Dubai, and Nairobi, and eleven Country offices in sub-Saharan Africa and Ukraine.
About the Role
The Project Officer supports the planning, implementation, monitoring, and development of projects within health, education, and training portfolios. The role contributes to LM International’s mission to save lives, empower people, and promote dignified and sustainable livelihoods.
The Project Officer works closely with partners, stakeholders, and internal teams to ensure high-quality project delivery, compliance with donor requirements, and continuous learning and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Design & Proposal Development
- Contribute to concept notes, project proposals, work plans, and budgets aligned with organizational and donor priorities
- Support identification of funding opportunities and grant writing processes in collaboration with regional and global teams
2. Project Implementation & Coordination
- Coordinate with local and international partners to ensure timely and effective project execution
- Support planning and logistics for meetings, workshops, and field visits
- Ensure integration of cross-cutting themes including gender, inclusion, and sustainability
3. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning (MEAL)
- Support project monitoring through data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Maintain updates in the Project Management System (Lime)
- Assist in development of monitoring tools, indicators, and evaluation frameworks
- Facilitate learning and knowledge sharing across programs
4. Technical Support & Research
- Support studies and implementation within the Cervical Cancer and broader SRHR programs
- Assist partners with capacity strengthening on Core Humanitarian Standard (CHS) compliance
- Conduct research and analysis to inform program development, advocacy, and strategy
5. Partnerships & Representation
- Support identification and development of strategic partnerships
- Represent LM International in meetings, workshops, and coordination forums when required
6. Innovation, Financing & Business Development
- Support development and testing of proof-of-concept initiatives (blended finance, impact investment, innovative funding models)
- Apply Quadruple Helix approach (government, academia, private sector, civil society)
- Contribute to development of business concepts and sustainable social enterprise models
- Support feasibility studies, financial projections, and risk assessments
7. Reporting & Communications
- Draft donor reports, internal documentation, and project updates
- Support development of communication materials including case studies, success stories, and newsletters
8. Office Administration & Basic Financial Support
- Support day-to-day office administration and procurement processes.
- Assist with financial documentation and archiving, including proper handling of payment records.
- Support basic budget tracking and expenditure follow-up in coordination with finance staff.
- Maintain organized filing systems and assist with audit documentation
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Project Management, or related field.
- Experience in project management, development, or humanitarian programming
- Experience with donor-funded projects and reporting
- Strong analytical, coordination, and organizational skills
- Experience with MEAL frameworks and data management preferred
- Familiarity with SRHR, health systems, or development innovation is an advantage
- Experience in basic office administration and financial documentation
- Familiarity with budgeting or basic bookkeeping is an asset
