Operations Manager - Job Description

Job Title: Operations Manager

Location: Port Sudan (Later Khartoum) with field travel to all states with offices

Liaises: Internally; Country Director, Program Manager, Finance Manager, Program and Areas Coordinators, RO and GO HR Department

Externally; Local Partners, Donors, Government authorities such as HAC, labor offices

Overview:

The Operations Manager oversees LM Sudan human resources, administration, staff safety and security, as well as procurement and logistics functions. The position is responsible for developing and implementing HR policies, managing administrative processes, ensuring staff safety, and optimizing procurement and logistics activities to support the LM Sudan goals and objectives.

Responsibilities:

Human Resources:

  1. With the support of Global HR Manager, develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and procedures in alignment with company objectives.
  2. Oversee recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes.
  3. Manage employee relations, performance management, and disciplinary procedures.
  4. Administer compensation and benefits programs.
  5. Ensure compliance with labor laws and regulations.

Administration:

  1. Supervise administrative staff and processes.
  2. Manage office operations and facilities to ensure efficiency and functionality.
  3. Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures.
  4. Oversee record-keeping and documentation processes.

Staff Safety and Security:

  1. Develop and implement safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  2. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure a safe work environment.
  3. Conduct regular safety and security assessments.

Procurement and Logistics:

  1. Oversee procurement activities to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of goods and services.
  2. Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts.
  3. Optimize logistics processes for inventory management and distribution.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience 5 years in HR management and administration, preferably in a managerial role.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR functions, labor laws, and best practices.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Experience in procurement, logistics, or related fields is a plus.
  • Certification in Human Resources (e.g., SHRM, HRCI) is desirable.
