Join LM International as Head of the Abéché Office

As Head of the Abéché Office, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that aid reaches the right people, at the right time, in the right condition. You will provide strategic guidance to optimize program performance while upholding LM International’s mission, vision, and core values.

You will support the Country Director and the entire Country Management Team in aligning program strategies, goals, and priorities with compliance standards and support services.

We conduct international development cooperation and humanitarian aid in approximately 20 countries, primarily in Africa and Latin America, but also in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. With around 400 employees, our operations span:

  • Regional hubs in Panama City, Dubai, and Nairobi

Key Responsibilities

a) Strategic Management and Representation

  • Represent LM International to local authorities, humanitarian partners, donors, and communities
  • Ensure implementation of organizational strategies and policies
  • Actively participate in humanitarian coordination mechanisms (clusters, inter-agency meetings, etc.)

b) Operational and Programmatic Oversight

  • Supervise planning, execution, and monitoring & evaluation of projects across sub-offices
  • Ensure compliance with donor commitments (UNHCR, UNICEF, MEED, Samaritan’s Purse, etc.)
  • Support field teams to ensure quality, relevance, and sustainability of interventions, especially in emergency contexts

c) Human Resource Management

  • Lead and support multidisciplinary teams
  • Contribute to recruitment, training, and performance evaluation
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive work environment aligned with PSEA standards

d) Administrative, Financial, and Logistical Management

  • Ensure rigorous financial management of the office and sub-offices
  • Oversee logistics operations (procurement, inventory, vehicles, equipment)
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures and donor requirements

e) Security Management

  • Maintain constant security monitoring and implement safety plans
  • Support sub-offices in risk analysis and adaptation of security measures
  • Serve as the security focal point for the Eastern Chad region

f) Coordination and Communication

  • Collaborate closely with other departments (Programs, Finance, HR, etc.) for effective logistical coordination
  • Communicate regularly with logistics managers and internal stakeholders to anticipate needs and address challenges
  • Maintain strong relationships with local suppliers to ensure timely delivery

Essential Requirements

  1. Academic Qualifications
    master’s degree in project management, social sciences, international relations, operations management, humanitarian management, or a related field
  2. Professional Experience
    Minimum of 5 years in a similar role, preferably in humanitarian, emergency, or development contexts
  3. Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in office software (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Knowledge of supply chain and transport systems
  • Fluency in French (spoken and written); knowledge of local languages is an asset

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Capacity to work under pressure in challenging environments
  • Attention to detail and professional rigor

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to reduce costs, improve delivery timelines, and enhance operational workflows
