Karma is building the restaurant operating system Europe deserves. We're 20 people competing against giants - and winning deals with 500+ location chains. Our secret? We build with AI, ship fast, and refuse to accept "that's how it's always been done."
Now we need someone to own Android.
What you'll build:
Point of Sale that actually works. Fast. Bulletproof. Offline-first. Restaurants don't stop when WiFi drops—neither does your code. You'll build native Android POS that handles payments, syncs seamlessly, and survives the chaos of a Friday night dinner rush.
Kitchen Display Systems that think. Real-time order routing. Smart ticket management. Prep time predictions. The KDS isn't just a screen—it's the brain of the kitchen, and you'll make it intelligent.
The full hardware dance. Payment terminals. Receipt printers. Cash drawers. Card readers. NFC. You'll integrate with all of it and make it feel effortless.
AI-native features. Voice ordering. Intelligent upselling. Predictive workflows. We're not adding AI as a feature—we're building AI into the foundation.
The technical reality:
Kotlin. Offline-first architecture. Local databases that sync when they can and never lose a transaction. Payment SDK integrations. Hardware APIs. Performance optimization for devices that run 14-hour shifts. Error handling that would make a spacecraft engineer nod approvingly. You'll use our modular home built SDK for backend that's already powering Karma OS on the web today.
Who you are:
You've built Android apps that can't afford to crash. You understand that "works on my device" means nothing when it's 8pm on a Saturday and the kitchen is on fire (metaphorically, hopefully).
You use AI to move faster. Cursor, Claude Code, whatever makes you dangerous. You're not threatened by the shift - you're accelerated by it.
You obsess over the details that separate "functional" from "exceptional." Milliseconds matter. Edge cases matter. The loading spinner that nobody should ever see matters.
Why this matters:
Restaurants run on razor-thin margins. A clunky POS costs them money every single day. A KDS that lags means cold food and angry customers. What you build directly impacts whether these businesses thrive or just survive.
