About the Organization

Jhpiego is an international, non-profit health organization and an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University, dedicated to improving the health of women and families in developing countries. For over 50 years, it has focused on providing high-quality, low-cost health care solutions, training health workers, and strengthening health systems.

Jhpiego has been working in India since the 1980s in close partnership with national and state governments. With deep technical expertise and strong on-the-ground execution, Jhpiego helps design, test, and scale practical solutions and innovations that fit real-world systems across multiple thematic domains, including Tuberculosis and Infectious Diseases.

About the Program

Under its TB portfolio, Jhpiego supports the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP) in implementing innovative and evidence-based strategies to accelerate TB case detection and improve treatment outcomes.

The Cough Syrup Surveillance Initiative aims to identify individuals with presumptive TB through pharmacy-level monitoring of cough syrup sales and strengthen their linkage to timely TB screening, diagnosis, treatment initiation, and follow-up through structured surveillance and referral mechanisms.

About the Position

The Sr/Program and Data Coordinator- TB will support state and district-level implementation, coordination, monitoring, and data management for the Cough Syrup Surveillance Initiative. The position will work closely with State TB Cells, district health teams, Drug Control Administration, pharmacists, chemist associations, private drug retailers, health facilities, and project teams to operationalize the intervention and ensure effective referral and linkage of individuals with presumptive TB to NTEP services.

The role combines program implementation with data management and analytics. The incumbent will first ensure effective rollout, stakeholder engagement, referral tracking, capacity building, and supportive supervision, and will subsequently strengthen data systems, reporting compliance, data quality, performance analysis, dashboards, and evidence-based program improvement.

Responsibilities

  1. Program Coordination:
  • Support implementation of the Cough Syrup Surveillance Initiative across assigned state and districts in accordance with approved implementation plans, standard operating procedures, and project timelines.
  • Coordinate with District TB Officers, district and block health teams, Drug Control Administration, and other relevant stakeholders to facilitate smooth implementation of project activities.
  • Track implementation progress against agreed deliverables, timelines, and program targets and proactively follow up on pending actions.
  • Provide regular follow-up and handholding support to participating pharmacies and providers on registration, identification of eligible individuals, data entry, counselling, referral, and follow-up processes.
  • Coordinate with drug inspectors, referral facilities, diagnostic centres, and NTEP teams to strengthen the operational pathway from identification to diagnosis and treatment.
  • Coordinate with diagnostic and treatment facilities to verify referral outcomes and ensure appropriate documentation in project and NTEP systems.
  • Conduct regular field visits and supportive supervision to assess implementation of quality, protocol adherence, stakeholder participation, and referral functionality.
  1. Data coordination:
  • Develop, maintain, and update standardized databases, trackers, reporting formats, and data-flow mechanisms for pharmacy onboarding, active participation, referrals, diagnostic outcomes, TB notifications, and treatment initiation.
  • Ensure timely compilation and consolidation of data received from pharmacies, districts, referral facilities, digital applications, and field teams.
  • Conduct periodic data quality assessments and source-document verification, including validation of pharmacy records, referral records, diagnostic outcomes, and treatment-linkage information.
  • Ensure confidentiality, secure storage, controlled access, and appropriate use of patient-level and program data in accordance with organizational and government requirements.
  • Analyze program data to monitor key performance indicators, referral conversion, diagnostic completion, TB case detection, treatment initiation, reporting compliance, and geographic or facility-level performance.
  • Undertake any additional responsibilities assigned by the Senior Program Officer or project leadership to support program and organizational objectives.
  • Comply with Jhpiego policies, professional standards, safeguarding requirements, and applicable government guidelines.
  • Compile and develop weekly report and share with National team and field team.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Health, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Applications, Social Sciences, Health Management or related fields.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in public health program implementation, coordination, monitoring, data management and analytics.
  • Experience working with NTEP(specifically in Ni-kshay) or another large-scale government health program at state, district, or regional level is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in data collection, cleaning, validation, analysis, reporting systems, dashboards, or health management information systems.
  • Experience engaging private-sector stakeholders, pharmacies, chemist associations, or drug-control authorities will be an added advantage.
  • Prior experience with an NGO, development-sector organization, technical support unit, or donor-funded public health project is preferred.

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong program coordination, field implementation, stakeholder engagement, and follow-up skills.
  • Strong data management and analytical capability with advanced proficiency in MS Excel and working knowledge of digital reporting platforms.
  • Ability to interpret program data and translate findings into practical recommendations and corrective actions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deliverables, datasets, and timelines independently and collaboratively.
  • Fluency in English and Hindi; proficiency in the relevant state language is preferred.
  • Willingness to undertake regular travel within assigned states and districts, as required by the project.
