Position Overview
Under the guidance of the Associate Director – Infectious Disease / Country Lead – Communications, the Assistant Manager Communication will provide strategic and technical leadership to design, plan, and implement communication activities that enhance the visibility, advocacy, and overall impact of Jhpiego’s Global Health Security (GHS) and Tuberculosis (TB) programs in India.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Communication and Coordination
- Design and implement comprehensive communication strategies and plans aligned
with project goals.
- Develop and manage communication materials including press releases,
newsletters, brochures, presentations, case studies, and donor reports.
- Support the development of compelling success stories, human-interest narratives, and policy briefs to highlight project achievements and
- Coordinate with internal teams and partners to ensure consistent messaging and
branding across all communication channels.
- Build and maintain relationships with media, creative agencies, and stakeholders to
amplify project visibility.
- Visibility and Advocacy
- Enhance visibility of program achievements among stakeholders, partners, and the
public through targeted media engagement and advocacy initiatives.
- Identify and implement opportunities to showcase innovations, key learnings, and
outcomes through events, dissemination workshops, and media features.
- Lead the development of social media campaigns, press kits, and digital content to
position Jhpiego as a thought leader in public health.
- Manage and regularly update content on Jhpiego’s website and social media
platforms to reflect project milestones and key messages.
- Branding and Content Development
- Ensure all communication outputs adhere to Jhpiego and donor branding
- Conceptualize and oversee production of multimedia content such as videos,
infographics, and photo stories.
- Provide communication support for internal and external events, launches, and
campaigns.
- Capacity Strengthening
- Build the capacity of program staff and partners on effective communication and documentation
- Develop toolkits, templates, and guidance notes for consistent and quality
communication delivery.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Support teams in preparing abstracts, reports, and presentations for conferences
and donor dissemination.
- Ensure timely submission of internal and external communication
- Perform other communication-related tasks assigned by the
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in mass communications, Journalism, Public Health Communication, Public Relations, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in communications, preferably in the public health or development sector.
- Proven experience in developing and executing communication strategies, managing media relations, and producing high-quality content.
- Experience working with government agencies, international agencies, and donors is desirable.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and persuasively.
- Strong ability to understand the project requirements and handle multiple
- Familiarity with India’s healthcare system and public health programs is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary
- Fluency in English; proficiency in additional Indian languages
