Overview
Jhpiego Ethiopia is seeking two data managers for its MNCH-N project on temporary contract one for three month and one for one month respectively. The Data Manager – MNCH-N is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and management of high-quality data systems that support Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Nutrition (MNCH-N) programs. The position ensures the availability of accurate, timely, complete, and reliable data to inform evidence-based planning, implementation, monitoring, and decision-making. The role oversees the full data lifecycle, including data collection, quality assurance, analysis, visualization, reporting, and use, ensuring alignment with national HMIS/DHIS2 standards, organizational monitoring frameworks, and donor reporting requirements. The Data Manager also plays a critical role in strengthening data management and analytics capacity among program and health facility staff.
Responsibilities
Data Systems, Quality Assurance & Digital Tools
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of MNCH‑N digital data collection tools and platforms. Ensure all tools and indicators align with national HMIS/DHIS2 standards.
- Develop and manage dashboards, reports, maps, and infographics for real‑time data use.
- Conduct advanced data analysis and produce clear, actionable insights for program teams.
- Maintain secure, high‑quality databases and enforce strong data security and backup protocols.
- Develop and implement data quality assurance frameworks. Identify data quality gaps and provide timely feedback to improve reporting practices.
Data Analysis, Visualization & Use
- Analyze MNCH‑N, IPC, and PHEM program data to support performance monitoring.
- Build and update dashboards and visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, and Excel.
- Produce routine and ad‑hoc analytical products for MEL, management, and technical teams.
Capacity Building & Technical Support
- Train project teams on digital data tools, data analysis, visualization, and data use.
- Plan and deliver targeted capacity‑building initiatives with MEL and technical teams.
- Provide ongoing technical support to field teams to strengthen data management and use.
Data Governance, Protection & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with data confidentiality, protection, and ethical data use standards.
- Manage user access, permissions, backups, and version control across data systems.
- Ensure adherence to national data governance policies, organizational standards, and donor requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree (MSc) in Health Informatics, Public Health, Statistics, Information Management Computer Science or a closely related discipline.
- Minimum 7 years of experience.
- Strong proficiency in: KoboToolbox and ODK, DHIS2, Advanced Excel, Power BI, and Tableau
- Demonstrated experience with: Health and nutrition indicator frameworks and log frames, data quality audits and verification processes, health facility and service readiness assessments. Strong knowledge of national HMIS/DHIS2 MNCH-N indicators is a significant advantage.

Salary: Between 22,966 – 33,563 USD per annum.
