Overview
Jhpiego is a nonprofit global health leader and an affiliate of Johns Hopkins University dedicated to saving lives, improving health, and transforming futures. We work with governments, health experts, and local communities to develop the skills and systems that ensure a healthier future for women and families. Jhpiego applies the latest science and best practices to moments of care that can mean the difference between life and death for women and families—the moment a woman gives birth; the moment a midwife helps a newborn breathe. Through our partnerships, we are transforming healthcare for the world’s most disadvantaged and vulnerable populations.
In India, Jhpiego collaborates with national and state governments across various states, providing technical assistance in family planning, maternal and child health, strengthening human resources for health, and addressing non-communicable diseases. These programs are funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the David & Lucile Packard Foundation, the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), MSD for Mothers, and other anonymous donors. Building on this foundation, Jhpiego is implementing a flagship multi-phase research study titled “Understanding the Effect of Accreditation on Maternal and Perinatal Health Outcomes, with a Focus on Mixed-Health Systems.” Supported by MSD for Mothers and conducted in partnership with the World Health Organization and Ariadne Labs, this study aims to generate solid evidence on how hospital accreditation—both standard and enhanced Accreditation+ models—affects maternal and newborn health outcomes.
The study involves developing global case studies, designing a hospital accreditation using a human-centered care model, overseeing field operations, and analyzing data from a clusterrandomized trial and implementation research. It will conclude with the dissemination of results at both global and national levels. In this context, the National Program Manager will provide strategic leadership, coordination, and oversight of the study in India. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth delivery of programs,
engaging stakeholders, and aligning with donor and government priorities, while further establishing Jhpiego’s position as a thought leader in quality care and accreditation.
