Statistician in Neuroscience Research
Position Summary
We are looking for a statistician with experience in neuroscience research to join our team at
INAB (Instituto de Neurociencia Avanzada de Barcelona) in our Barcelona laboratories. INAB
conducts research in cognitive neuroscience, including perception, consciousness, thinking,
emotions, human behavior, and neurobiology. Candidates with experience working with
neurophysiological and neuroimaging data in these domains will be particularly valued.
The successful candidate will contribute to the statistical design, analysis, and interpretation of
data from multidisciplinary research projects, collaborating closely with neuroscientists,
psychologists, engineers, and data scientists.
Responsibilities
● Design and supervise statistical analysis plans for research projects.
● Process, organize, and quality-control experimental datasets.
● Analyze behavioral, electrophysiological, and neuroimaging data using advanced
statistical and computational methods.
● Collaborate in the preparation of scientific manuscripts, reports, and grant proposals.
● Contribute to the interpretation and communication of research findings.
● Support and advise research staff and postgraduate students on statistical methodology
and data analysis.
Requirements
● PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Data Science, Neuroscience, Psychology, Biomedical
Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
● Strong background in statistical modeling, experimental design, and data analysis.
● Experience analyzing neuroscience and/or psychology research data.
● Proficiency in statistical programming languages such as R, Python, or MATLAB.
● Experience processing and analyzing electrophysiological and/or neuroimaging data.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
● Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary research teams.

Desirable Qualifications
● Research experience in neuroscience, psychology, cognitive science, neurobiology, or
related disciplines.
● Peer-reviewed scientific publications.
● Experience with machine learning, Bayesian statistics, or advanced computational
modeling.
● Experience with one or more of the following techniques:
-Electroencephalography (EEG)
-Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (fNIRS)
-Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI/fMRI)
-Biosensors (ECG, GSR, HRV, respiration, etc.)
● Familiarity with neuroimaging and electrophysiology analysis software and toolboxes.
● Experience supervising undergraduate, master's, or doctoral students.
