About Hygglo & Our mission

We're on a mission to make it affordable and convenient to get any item, anywhere, without needing to buy it.

Hygglo is Europe's largest peer-to-peer rental platform, with over one million rentals across seven countries. By connecting people who own things with people who need them, we're building a smarter way of consuming — one that reduces waste, saves money, and makes life easier.

The Role

At Hygglo, engineers direct AI to write code and then review the output with care and judgment. The engineering happens in the review — understanding what the AI produced, whether it fits the codebase, and making the calls that need human context.

You'll take ownership of product and technical improvements from idea to production, working across our stack:

  • React Native & Expo – mobile apps

  • Next.js & Vercel – web experience

  • Node.js & TypeScript – backend services

  • PostgreSQL – data layer

You'll work on real problems — marketplace quality, payments, trust and safety, scaling across countries — and spend your time on the interesting parts: understanding the domain, designing the right solution, and reviewing whether what got built actually works. AI handles the repetitive work so you don't have to.

We keep institutional knowledge in the codebase itself, so both AI and new team members can learn the house rules from the repo — not from chasing down the one person who remembers.

What we're looking for

  • You care about what gets built, not just how. Product sense matters here.

  • You're collaborative: you enjoy helping others, sharing context, and giving and receiving honest, constructive feedback.

  • You can read, review, and reason about code across JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and Node.js — whether you wrote it or an AI did.

  • You're comfortable making decisions — the role involves many small judgment calls daily.

If you're excited about this role but don't meet every point below, we'd still love to hear from you.

Also valuable

  • Professional experience with SQL, preferably PostgreSQL.

  • Experience breaking down work into clear specs and parallel tasks.

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, or similar).

  • Experience with Expo, mobile app distribution, payment systems (e.g. Stripe), or fraud detection.

  • Deep backend or database expertise.

How we work

  • AI-first engineering. Engineers orchestrate AI agents and review their output. The craft is in the review, the specs, and the decisions — not in hand-writing every line.

  • Collaborative, in person. We work from our Stockholm office most days because we think better together. Life happens — remote days when you need them are fine. What matters is communication and delivery, not attendance tracking.

  • Small team, real ownership. Your ideas get heard. You'll influence both product direction and how we build things.

  • Learning built in. New engineers ramp up where AI leverage is highest. The first weeks are about learning to review well and work in parallel — not about proving you can type fast.

Why join?

Meaningful work — help reduce overconsumption and shape a future where access matters more than ownership.

A different kind of engineering — less repetitive coding, more creative problem-solving. You'll spend your energy on the interesting parts.

Room to grow — work across the stack and across disciplines, with the space to deepen expertise in your own area.

A team that has your back — we celebrate humility, learning, and helping each other succeed. No egos, no heroes.

Competitive salary and benefits.
