Vehicle-to-Cloud Platform Engineer
Einride
Software Engineering
Gothenburg, Sweden
Job Description
Want to be part of transforming road freight – for good? Einride is showing the world a new way to move, based on the latest digital, electric and autonomous technologies. Through freight capacity as a service, we enable businesses around the world to accelerate towards their sustainability goals.
Founded in 2016, Einride became the first company in the world to deploy a cab-less autonomous electric vehicle on a public road (Sweden, 2019). In 2022, we were the first to successfully operate such a vehicle on a US public road. Today our award-winning technology has been launched across 8 countries (and counting). Our clients are some of the world’s biggest shippers, including Fortune 500 companies. We are also operating Sweden’s largest truck dedicated public charging network and counting.
Einride is growing and we are looking for a Vehicle-to-Cloud Platform Engineer to join our Tech organization. In this role, you aren't just connecting servers in a data center; you are treating a fleet of moving vehicles as highly distributed edge nodes. You will ensure our vehicles maintain a resilient, reliable connection to our cloud services, even in unpredictable network environments. You will be responsible for the architecture, security, and automation of our vehicle-to-cloud infrastructure, bridging the gap between hardware ECUs and cloud-native services.
You will:
- Architect and manage the complete vehicle-to-cloud network infrastructure (both on-board the vehicle and cloud-side) to support secure V2X communication and telematics data ingestion, specifically designing for high-latency or intermittent cellular environments.
- Architect and maintain secure Over-the-Air (OTA) update strategies for deploying software and firmware to distributed ECUs across the fleet.
- Treat infrastructure as code (IaC) to automate deployments, configuration management, and secret management at scale, spanning both cloud environments and the vehicle fleet.
- Establish and maintain secure, encrypted communication channels between the cloud and edge devices (vehicles).
We expect you to have:
- A Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Network Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Proven experience designing and managing infrastructure for distributed systems, IoT fleets, or edge computing environments.
- A strong ability to debug complex issues across the entire stack, from a physical vehicle ECU out on the road all the way up to the cloud infrastructure.
- Strong conceptual understanding of secure network architecture, including establishing encrypted tunnels, certificate authority (CA) management, and routing.
- Significant experience automating infrastructure and configuration management using modern frameworks (e.g., Terraform, SaltStack, Ansible, or similar).
- Deep understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems, particularly in remote, headless, or resource-constrained environments.
Nice to have:
- Knowledge of wireless communication protocols and mobile network behaviors (5G, LTE, Wi-Fi, 802.11r, handovers).
- Familiarity with complex network routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, VRF, 802.1q).
- Hands-on experience with Mender (for OTA) or SaltStack (for configuration management).
- Deep understanding of modern cloud environments (GCP preferred) and how to securely bridge them with physical edge devices.
This is a full-time position based in Gothenburg or Stockholm. You will be part of a truly diverse, high performing team with a common passion for sustainability and making things happen in an innovative way. We recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible since selection and interviews are held continually.
Please note that as part of our standard recruitment process, we conduct a background control on the final candidate for this role. This may include verification of education, employment history, any relevant professional certifications or other information that may be of our interest.
At Einride, we are innovators, building solutions the world has never seen before – but urgently needs. That’s why we take action, and it’s why we are always eager to be challenged.
