Opportunity

We’re looking for an intern who has previous experience creating and managing large data sets and conducting data analysis, has familiarity with corporate sustainability initiatives and data, and loves to work collaboratively with teammates.

This is a full-time internship opportunity for 8-10 weeks during Summer 2024, with potential to extend on a part-time basis depending on your interest and company needs. We can also consider a part-time internship for a longer duration.

What You’ll Do

As a Carbon & Data Analyst Intern, the core of your role is supporting our team in key efforts to improve our internal data systems. You will report jointly to our Data Science & Analytics Lead and Carbon Strategy Lead.

  • Evaluate brands’ sustainability initiatives. Identify publicly available sustainability information for a list of priority brands. Document, evaluate and rate these brands’ efforts based on a provided rubric.

  • Data gathering, analysis, and quality assurance. Source, clean, and organize bulk data sets, as well as complete manual data entry, to enhance the quality of our Brand Directory.

  • Measure and evaluate success. Identify ways to track and report your progress and demonstrate the ways in which your efforts are improving our systems.

  • Work with the Data, Development, and Carbon Strategy team. Collaborate closely with these teams to learn the purpose of our internal systems, understand how they operate, and improve their efficacy.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, a strong communicator, and has previous experience with data analysis and sustainability work. You’re a graduate student or exceptional undergraduate senior with previous professional experience, looking to gain experience at a climate-tech startup. You can provide at least 1-2 professional references.

  • Familiarity with corporate sustainability initiatives. You understand the core components of corporate sustainability efforts and reporting. You’re adept at distinguishing unsubstantiated or misleading claims from defensible ones.

  • Experience with applied data analysis. You’re comfortable navigating around a database and working with large sets of data. You’re fluent in or more advanced data tools, such as Excel, SQL, and/or Python, or can quickly learn them in advance of your interview.

  • Meticulous and detail-oriented. You’re willing to roll up your sleeves and do the sometimes tedious work of ensuring data is accurately represented and checked. You hold yourself to a high standard of quality.

  • Hungry to learn in a fast-moving environment. You’re a curious self-starter who’s eager to learn. You push your work forward independently and feel comfortable switching between priorities on short notice.

  • Clear, collaborative communicator. You thrive in environments with open and honest communication. You enjoy collaborating with different kinds of people and are excited to contribute to and learn from others. You welcome feedback.

Think you might have what it takes, but not sure you meet every requirement? Research shows that women and marginalized folks tend to only apply when they check every box. If you're passionate about what we're building, please apply. You might be just who we’re looking for.
