Climate Fund Managers B.V. (CFM) is a leading blended finance fund manager dedicated to securing a sustainable future by investing across global emerging markets. CFM has a long-term vision to structure cutting edge financing facilities around thematic areas of climate change mitigation and adaptation, including renewable energy, water and oceans, sustainable land use, and sustainable cities. CFM is established as a joint venture between the Dutch development bank FMO and Sanlam InfraWorks – part of the Sanlam Group of South Africa with offices in with offices in The Hague, Cape Town, Windhoek, Singapore and Bogota.

CFM is authorised by the AFM to act as manager (beheerder) of investment institutions and to offer participation rights in investment institutions. CFM is subject to supervision by the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (Autoriteit Financiële Markten or “AFM”) and/or the Dutch Central Bank (De Nederlandsche Bank N.V. or “DNB”).


Job Purpose

We are seeking to recruit a New Ventures Associate to strengthen our Asia team. This role will be based in Singapore and reports to the Senior Manager for New Ventures Asia. The core focus of the role will be to support New Ventures in Asia with new fund initiatives, capital raising strategy, and general business development.

Central to the job purpose is to explain to investors “what we do, why we do it, how we do it, and why it makes sense to them”. As a leader in the sustainable finance sector, we are committed to driving positive environmental impact through strategic investments in climate-related projects.


Duties and Responsibilities

New Ventures

  • Draft and maintain priority tracking list of key new initiatives, which may include new instruments or new funds, developed and or promoted by CFM (“New Initiatives”)
  • Work with the broader CFM Group to develop and improve new Initiatives
  • Prepare fundraising materials, including pitch, offering and presentations
  • Production of written reports, edit/draft report content
  • Financial and/or fund model analysis
  • Provide support regarding the participation in relevant workshops and conferences to promote and raise awareness about CFM
  • Participation in investor meetings and roadshows and support in preparation of relevant pitch materials

Governance & Reporting

  • Preparation and maintenance of appraisal materials for a New Initiatives
  • Execution of due diligence work-streams e.g., interfacing with advisers, review and assess due diligence reports, and incorporate due diligence findings into New Ventures analysis.
  • Industry analysis and sector research.
  • Maintain and update CRM system and investor database, including performing reviews/ ongoing due diligence on investor focus, needs and interest in CFM products
  • Process support for compliance, governance, and internal approvals, including but not limited to KYC, anti-money laundering checks and investor reporting.

Market & Policy Analysis

  • Monitor key developments in the markets that CFM operates in, including industry developments, regulatory developments, and trends impacting fundraising efforts and investment strategy
  • Contribute to internal thought leadership on New Initiatives and fundraising strategies


Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in finance, Economics, MBA or a related field
  • 5-8 years’ experience within Private Equity or Investment Banking, M&A, Investor Relations, Capital Raising and Business Development with exposure to infrastructure related businesses (energy, social infrastructure, water, waste) in Asia.
  • Financial acumen – the capacity to demonstrate knowledge of and insight into financial principles and processes and identify inconsistencies in data
  • Technical/financial ability to explain the mandate and concepts of CFM
  • Understanding of the products offered by CFM and their benefits
  • A passion for sustainable investing
  • An understanding of investors decision making processes, timelines, asset allocations and rationale
  • Ability to apply sound business judgment and an analytical, pragmatic, and creative approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize effectively; strong project / process management skills.
  • Invests high levels of energy in work; flexible & dynamic – self-starter, highly organized and structured, logical, and lateral thinker, results driven, ability to deal with change.
  • Good financial modelling skills and attention to detail
  • Team player, with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and add value
  • Stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities,
  • English language proficiency
  • Technically proficient (Advanced) in Excel, Word, PowerPoint essential.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Asia
