The Centre for Law and Innovation is an independent legal research and training hub affiliated with Certa Foundation, founded in 2020. Certa Foundation is a non-governmental organization governed by the laws of Rwanda with a mission of creating a platform for innovative legal initiatives that contribute towards a more just and equitable society. The Center has been established to conduct research and training for justice actors to deal with Africa's emerging development and regulation challenges. Together with our local and international partners and highly experienced trainers, the Center produces judicial clerks, successful mooters on national, regional, and international stages, advanced legal researchers and writers, mediators, and negotiators. The Center also works closely with different justice actors to develop human capacities for effective justice administration. In addition, our research labs program through inter- and intra-disciplinary collaborative labs produces excellent and pragmatic policy recommendations, reports, exploration memos, academic journal articles, white papers, policy briefs, case and legislative commentaries, and amicus curiae opinions, among others. Our research output is disseminated to government institutions, civil society, the academic community, and the public at large through roundtable discussions, conferences and presentations, research colloquiums and symposiums, and our weekly legal discussion forum known as 'Café Juridique’ sessions. Café Juridique forums also host guest speakers to discuss a wide range of trending and complex topics and events affecting the legal profession and justice administration. The Center takes great pride in being home to excellent trainers and experienced researchers using empirical data-driven findings to engineer future-proofing, adaptive and progressive legislations and policies delivering institutional resilience and strategic planning for disruptive innovation and sustainable development.
