What you’ll get to do
We are looking for a Project Controls Lead to own the schedules for two of our most important programs: our electrical test demonstrator – a full-scale, electrically heated, non-nuclear replica of our SEALER reactor – and the SEALER reactor design development program. Beyond the day-to-day planning work, you will help build Blykalla’s project controls function in Sweden from the ground up, in close collaboration with our US team.
This is a role for someone who wants their schedules to be used, not filed away. You will work directly with engineers, procurement, and management, and your plans will drive real decisions on two first-of-a-kind programs.
Key responsibilities include:
Develop, maintain, and own the integrated project schedules for the electrical test demonstrator and the SEALER design development program.
Build WBS-based schedules together with engineering, procurement, and site leads – define activities, logic, durations, and resource needs.
Run critical path and what-if analyses, identify slippage early, and propose recovery options.
Support and help facilitate technical risk assessment workshops with engineering. No formal risk management background is required, but the ability to ask sharp clarifying questions in unfamiliar technical territory is essential.
Establish and manage baselines, track progress, and produce clear schedule status reporting for project and executive management.
Coordinate schedule interfaces across engineering disciplines, suppliers, and partners.
Help build the project controls function in Sweden – processes, templates, tools, and reporting standards – in collaboration with our US project controls team.
Grow the scope of the function over time towards cost integration, earned value, and schedule risk management as the projects mature.
Who you’ll get to work with
The Project Controls Lead sits in the Project Management team within Blykalla, and reports to the Head of Project Management. You will work daily with engineering, procurement, and commercial colleagues in Stockholm, and closely with our US-based project controls team. We are a diverse team that is passionate about our work and Blykalla.
Who you are
You will be part of a highly skilled team with a can-do attitude. We value personnel chemistry and strive to create a workplace where you enjoy coming to. You are a structured and delivery-focused planner who is at home turning engineering ambition into realistic, defensible plans. You are comfortable chasing down inputs, challenging optimistic estimates, and holding activity owners accountable – in a friendly but persistent way. You want to understand what drives an activity’s duration and what depends on it downstream, rather than taking a duration at face value without knowing the logic behind it.
You will be part of a highly skilled team with a can-do attitude. We value personnel chemistry and strive to create a workplace where you enjoy coming to. There are however a few things that we think will help for you to succeed in this role, these are:
4–7 years of planning and scheduling experience in complex technical or engineering-heavy environments (e.g., aerospace, defense, process/chemical plants, energy, or infrastructure). Nuclear experience is a bonus, not a requirement.
Hands-on expertise in Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
A solid grasp of WBS structures, activity networks, critical path method, baselining, and progress measurement.
Experience integrating inputs from multiple engineering disciplines and external suppliers into one coherent schedule.
Comfortable working from engineering drawings, technical specifications, and design documentation, and interacting directly with discipline engineers. You don’t need nuclear experience, but you need to be genuinely curious about the technology you are scheduling.
Clear and structured communication – you can explain the critical path and its consequences to both engineers and executives.
Fluent in English, spoken and written.
Fluency in Swedish is a plus.
We don’t expect candidates to already know the nuclear industry – we are looking for someone who can learn fast and isn’t afraid to ask “what does this component actually do?” in a room full of engineers. Exposure to some of the areas below is a plus, not a checklist.
Meritorious skills:
Experience from nuclear or other regulated, safety-driven industries.
Earned value management, cost control, or schedule risk analysis (e.g., Monte Carlo).
Experience building or scaling project controls processes, tools, or teams.
Experience working with international teams across time zones.
If you are not sure that you are 100% qualified but are up to the challenge, we encourage you to apply.
