Vice President Industrialization
Blykalla
Vice President Industrialization
Blykalla is scaling quickly in order to industrialize our small modular reactor (SMR) concept. If you are passionate about nuclear technology and want to make a significant impact, join us!
Blykalla is pioneering next-generation nuclear power with advanced small modular reactor (SMR) technology. A core differentiator of our reactor is the use of novel steels and materials that enable higher performance, safety, and compactness. To translate this advantage into licensed, buildable hardware, we are establishing a senior role with end-to-end responsibility for industrialization.
From Qualified Materials to Manufacturable Nuclear Components
We are now seeking a Vice President Industrialization to lead this effort.
About the Role
As VP Industrialization, you are accountable for ensuring that Blykalla’s materials and material solutions can be successfully manufactured, processed, applied and assembled at industrial scale.
You will be responsible for three areas:
Materials – material development and qualification. A small team is in place and is being led by the Head of Materials (reporting to you).
Industrialization – processing, protection, manufacturability, and supply-chain readiness for components.
Integration and final assembly - factory-level integration and workshop assembly of reactor systems prior to shipment to site.
You will also act as executive sponsor for selected component-focused R&D and industrialization projects, ensuring that novel materials are applied in real components, processes, and manufacturing environments.
The role is based in Stockholm, with an expectation of being on site at least four days per week. You report directly to the CEO and are a member of Blykalla’s management team.
Core Responsibilities
End-to-End Industrialization
Own the transition from qualified materials to industrially manufacturable components.
Ensure material data, specifications, and processing routes are usable by suppliers, manufacturers, and regulators.
Manufacturing & Processing
Ensure key suppliers and partners are technically capable and qualified to deliver to specification.
Lead industrialization of processing and application methods, including corrosion protection, welding, machining, forming, and surface treatments.
Ensure manufacturability, repeatability, and quality of components using Blykalla’s materials.
Drive readiness of advanced manufacturing routes where relevant (e.g. additive manufacturing, HIPing).
Component-Level R&D Sponsorship
Sponsor and steer targeted R&D and pilot projects for critical components.
Ensure learnings are captured in standards, specifications, and industrial processes.
Balance innovation with licensability, cost, schedule, and supply-chain reality.
Factory Integration & Workshop Assembly
Define and establish factory integration and assembly flows, facilities, tooling, quality controls, acceptance processes, and production ramp-up toward series manufacturing.
Ensure assembled reactor units are complete, verified, and ready for transport to site, and drive readiness for repeatable, high-quality production.
Leadership & Governance
Oversee the Materials & Industrialization teams and manage interfaces with Engineering, Regulatory, and Supply Chain.
Set priorities, allocate resources, and ensure execution across parallel industrialization tracks.
Represent industrialization topics at executive level and in external technical forums.
Who You Are
You are a senior industrial leader with a proven ability to turn advanced or novel materials into certified, manufacturable products in regulated industries.
Experience & Background
15+ years in industrialization, manufacturing engineering, or component development within energy, nuclear, aerospace, or similarly regulated sectors.
Demonstrated experience taking new materials or technologies from qualification into industrial production.
Strong understanding of manufacturing and joining processes, industrial quality systems, and supplier qualification.
Experience working closely with R&D teams and translating research into industrial standards and processes.
Leadership & Way of Working
Credible, hands-on leader who bridges research, engineering, suppliers, and executives.
Comfortable owning technical risk and making trade-offs across performance, cost, schedule, and licensability.
Structured, execution-focused, and safety-driven.
Fluent in English; Swedish is a strong advantage.
What We Offer
A pivotal role in shaping how next-generation nuclear technology is industrialized and built.
Direct ownership of the transition from novel materials to real, licensed reactor components.
Competitive compensation, long-term incentives, and a central leadership role in a mission-driven company accelerating the clean energy transition.
Location
This position is for our office in Stockholm.

About Blykalla
Blykalla is Sweden's only SMR vendor, commercializing lead-cooled fast reactors for industrial use. Based on 20+ years of research, their SEALER technology is a compact 55 MWe unit designed to offer a safe, efficient, and scalable power solution. With a strong foundation within Sweden, Blykalla is well positioned to deliver Europe's first advanced SMR, providing reliable and sustainable baseload energy to power AI and clean industries.
Backed by partners such as Uniper, ABB, KSB, Höganäs, and the Royal Institute of Technology, Blykalla has secured close to EUR 50 million in funding, including a SEK 99 million grant from the Swedish Energy Agency and a EUR 17 million investment from the EU. The company plans to complete its first SEALER reactor by 2030 and begin serial production in the 2030s. By 2050, their technology could generate up to 500 TWh of clean electricity annually, cutting global CO₂ emissions by 0.5 gigatons each year.
