Alpha Team
About the Alpha Team: A Startup Within a Startup
The Alpha Team is Biorce’s "Tech Special Forces" squad. Operating as an incubator directly within the CEO’s office, this team is the tip of the spear for our most disruptive, market-inventing initiatives.
You won’t be iterating on existing products. You will be building from zero—defining strategy, leading cross-functional squads, and shipping under extreme speed and ambiguity. Every initiative is treated as a new startup venture, and every outcome is yours to own.
About the role
We are looking for a Sr. Product Owner to lead Team NEXUS and own two of Biorce’s most operationally critical products end-to-end.
NEXUS is our AI-powered data management and statistical agent, enabling clinical trial teams to automate and control complex data pipelines, statistical workflows, and research operations. It is a deeply technical, developer and operations-facing product that requires strong systems thinking and fluency with data and AI.
Alongside it, you will own the Patient-Facing App—a mobile-first product that represents the human side of clinical trials. This application must deliver a seamless, intuitive, and trustworthy experience for patients while adhering to the strict data and regulatory standards of clinical research.
You will operate across both ends of the product spectrum—highly technical infrastructure and human-centered design—managing a Product Designer and working with a multidisciplinary team of Level IV engineers across AI, data, backend, and mobile.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Product Strategy & Vision: Define and own the quarterly roadmap and long-term vision for both NEXUS and the Patient App, ensuring all work is anchored in measurable business outcomes rather than task execution.
Discovery & Problem Framing: Lead deep discovery across data infrastructure and patient experience challenges. Analyse competitive tools, user personas (clinical operators, data engineers, and patients), and technical feasibility. Translate insights into clear, high-quality scoping documents.
Dual-Product Thinking: Balance the needs of two fundamentally different user groups—technical users operating complex systems and patients interacting with simple mobile interfaces—within a unified product strategy.
Execution Excellence: Work closely with the Engineering Manager to shape system architecture and UX flows. Break down strategy into actionable tasks, run bi-weekly sprints, and ensure consistent delivery quality.
Go-To-Market Ownership: Own launch strategies across both products, from SaaS onboarding and platform adoption to mobile app releases and clinical rollout coordination.
Performance & Outcomes: Own technical KPIs (availability, deployment health, data reliability) alongside business metrics (usage, adoption, engagement, and long-term profitability).
Risk & Decision Management: Identify risks early and communicate clearly, framing challenges in terms of options, trade-offs, and recommended paths forward.
Team Leadership: Manage and develop the Product Designer, setting priorities across both technical and patient-facing surfaces while supporting their growth as the product scales.
Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with Engineering and Recruitment to build and maintain a high-performing team. Act as the primary interface with the CEO’s office, delivering clear updates and protecting team focus.
What You Bring
Experience: 7+ years in product management or software engineering, with a strong track record building large-scale distributed systems or SaaS platforms.
Scale-Up Background: At least 2 years in a high-growth scale-up environment. Experience limited to traditional enterprises or slow-moving organisations will not be sufficient for this role.
Technical Leadership: 3+ years in a leadership role with direct accountability for team outcomes and delivery.
Product Background: Ideal candidates include former founders (Seed to Series A), senior engineers who transitioned into product, experienced Product Owners/Leads from scale-ups, or system/solution architects.
Education: STEM degree preferred.
NEXUS Fit
Data-Intensive Products: Experience building or leading data-heavy SaaS platforms, particularly those involving pipelines, agent-based systems, or developer-facing tooling.
Mobile Product Experience: Proven exposure to shipping consumer-facing mobile applications, with a strong understanding of what defines high-quality mobile UX.
Dual-Persona Thinking: Ability to design simultaneously for highly technical users (e.g., data engineers) and non-technical users (e.g., patients on low-end devices).
Adaptability: Ability to quickly absorb complex domains and translate them into clear, actionable product decisions without requiring prior clinical trial experience.
Core Skills
Product Thinking: Ability to define the ideal product end state, prioritise ruthlessly, and maintain focus under constraints.
Systems Thinking: Strong capability to design elegant, scalable solutions for complex, AI-driven, data-intensive systems.
Radical Accountability: Full ownership of deadlines, quality, and outcomes.
Resilience in Chaos: Comfort operating in fast-changing environments, with the ability to pivot and discard work when necessary.
Leadership Excellence: A proactive approach to raising standards, developing others, and identifying opportunities for impact.
Radical Candor: Clear, direct communication with a focus on surfacing issues early and framing decisions effectively.
