About the Alpha Team: A Startup Within a Startup

The Alpha Team is Biorce’s "Tech Special Forces" squad. Operating as an incubator directly within the CEO’s office, this team is the tip of the spear for our most disruptive, market-inventing initiatives.

You won't be maintaining a roadmap; you will be building high-stakes AI features for clinical trial acceleration and exploring diverse projects—from payment systems to patient-facing devices. This is an environment of extreme speed, ambiguity, and impact.

About the role

Are you ready to lead the next revolution in healthcare SaaS technology? We are looking for an Engineering Manager to be the foundational hire and technical orchestrator of the Alpha Team.

In this role, you will act as the strategic technical link between ambitious product & design visions and engineering reality. You are a high-level leader who can navigate complex architectures while staying "hands-on" enough to set the technical bar. You will be responsible for building, mentoring, and shielding an elite squad of senior multidisciplinary engineers (frontend, backend, AI layer) to ensure they deliver high-impact solutions at pace.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• End-to-End Orchestration: Lead the technical implementation of disruptive features, mapping out execution plans to ensure high-speed delivery without sacrificing system reliability.
• Elite Team Building & Mentorship: Partner with Recruitment to hire a multidisciplinary "dream team" of senior engineers (frontend, backend, AI layer). You will empower and mentor high-level individual contributors, facilitating their professional growth within a high-pressure environment.
• Architecture & Governance: Own the "Definition of Done." Design and govern system architecture and communication that are scalable, secure, and high-performing.
• Operational Excellence: Own technical KPIs (availability, response times, deployment health). You will ensure full observability and alerting, identifying and addressing bottlenecks to improve engineering productivity.
• Team Shielding: Act as the central contact point for the CEO’s office, shielding the team from external distractions while keeping them aligned with shifting strategic priorities.
• Radical Accountability: Take full ownership of projects of high complexity. You are willing to step in personally to ensure deadlines are met and the ultimate quality of the work is uncompromised.



What You Bring

• Technical Mastery: 7+ years of software engineering experience with a strong foundational knowledge in building large-scale distributed systems and SaaS platforms.
• Cloud-Native & Platform Engineering Expertise:
• Deep experience building and operating distributed systems on GCP (preferred), with strong proficiency in Kubernetes-based architectures (GKE), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and service mesh technologies (e.g., Linkerd).
• Proven ability to design scalable, resilient microservices systems leveraging managed cloud services and open-source components.
• Modern Delivery & GitOps Practices:
• Hands-on experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Bitbucket Pipelines or similar, with a strong emphasis on GitOps workflows (e.g., ArgoCD), automated testing, and progressive delivery strategies.
• Solid understanding of observability (metrics, logs, tracing) and production-grade DevOps practices.
• Multi-Tenancy & Security Architecture:
• Experience designing and implementing multi-tenant SaaS architectures, including robust RBAC models, tenant isolation strategies, and secure API design. Familiarity with identity and access management patterns in cloud-native environments is a plus.
• Experience with .NET, Nodejs, React or Python, plus database design and management, git and other collaborative tools
• Design patterns experience to scale and maintain applications, example: TDD, DI, Event Driven
• CI/CD, Docker and Kubernetes are a plus
• Leadership Excellence: 3+ years in a technical leadership role (ideally in a scale-up). You have a proven track record of independently leading teams and proactively seeking opportunities for technical advancement.
• Complex Problem Solving: The ability to assess complex technical decisions, pinpoint potential issues early, and devise effective solutions amidst extreme uncertainty.
• High Drive & Resourcefulness: A "whatever it takes" mentality. You are a self-motivated leader who prioritizes high-impact features over "nice-to-haves" to meet business needs.
• Resilience in Chaos: You remain composed and productive when priorities shift. You have a mindset aligned with continuous deployment, experimentation, and the ability to discard work when the strategy evolves.
• Radical Candor: Clear, direct communication. You surface issues early and frame technical problems in terms of options, trade-offs, and business impact.
• Culture Driver: A passion for evolving engineering culture and bringing in modern practices (Agile, CI/CD, DevOps) to a rapidly expanding team.
