BeZero Carbon is a global ratings agency for the Voluntary Carbon Market. We distribute our ratings via our SaaS Product, BeZero Carbon Markets, informing all market participants on how to price and manage risk. Our ratings and research tools support buyers, intermediaries, investors and carbon project developers.
Founded in April 2020, our 150+ strong team combines climatic and earth sciences, sell-side financial research, earth observation, machine learning, data and technology, engineering, and public policy expertise. We work from four continents.
We raised a significant Series B funding round in late 2022, and are growing rapidly as a company, accelerating the Net-Zero transition through ratings.
Job Description:
As our Finance Associate, you will have full ownership of the day-to-day accounting responsibilities of the business, whilst also supporting the growth of the business by supporting specific projects.
You will have an essential role in helping us build a progressive finance team and improve our financial and cross-functional reporting.
You will be working with the other departments to perform your activities including supporting budget tracking, company-wide reporting and other ad-hoc projects.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day accounting responsibilities of the business, including processing invoices, reconciling bank accounts, and posting month-end journals.
- Produce month-end financial reporting and analyse performance against the budget.
- Partner to a wider range of stakeholders (From Scientific, Data, Product & Commercial backgrounds amongst others)
- Project & Ad-Hoc work as we scale
- Complete the payroll workings and process payments to suppliers.
- Assist with the production of investor and Executive Committee deliverables.
- Assist with building and updating forecasts on a regular basis.
- Assist with the production of year end accounts and liaise with auditors where required.
- Assist with company-wide reporting (especially commercial performance reporting)
You will be our ideal candidate if:
- ACA/ACCA certification
- Knowledge of bookkeeping and financial processes within Accounting
- Knowledge of GAAP/IFRS policies and how to apply this in the operational processes of the company
- Knowledge of ERP, Microsoft Office and specifically of Excel
- Familiarity with cloud based accounting tools e.g. Xero
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work effectively and independently within a fast-growing company and deal with ambiguity
- Preferred: interest in climate / environmental topics
